Adding a sub to vintage gear.

So after owning a some polks and being rather addicted to the system showcase (which I will be adding to shortly) and the forums, I finally have a question that I need you experience.
I finally found a place to get my father's Harman/Kardon citation 16 amp fixed. I will be using a Phase Linear 4000 as the preamp.
My question is this. I only have Monitor 50's right now, I am pretty sure that they will not deliver the low end like I would like, and I don't want to overwork them to go a little deeper. So I want to continue to use my KLH Tremor Series Sub. The problem I have is that the Phase Linear 4000 does not have a sub out, and I do not want to run speaker wire from the amp to the sub then to the speakers. The Phase Linear has the ability to control two separate amps for four speakers. I am thinking of using the second pre-out to go to the sub. I am also thinking of two sub-cords for the left and right channels. Do any of you know if this is going to be safe, or am I am going to blow somthing up?
This set up will only be for a year or two untill I save up again for Rti A's, some Paradigm's, or a new set of Bose 901's. I know some of you don't like Bose, but that is what the gear originaly pushed, and they got me started my obsesion with hi-fi two channel gear and aided in my music addiction. but at that point all of my Monitor's and the sub will go to home theatre.

I thank you for all of the input, and the great community of music lovers that you create.

You can either use the second set of speaker level outputs, or just parallel the signal to feed the sub off the back of the amp- or from the back of the speakers themselves.

Thank you. After getting the Amp fixed I did not want to have to get the Pre-amp fixed! =-)

I have the same wiring in my 2-ch system: Carver-C1 preamp has 2 sets of outputs - 1 going to Maggies (mains), 1 going to Velo ULD-15 (sub).

ViperZ, question for you. Just out of couriosity, how did you set the subwoofer settings since you are not using a sub out?
