Time to Reminisce

With the Christmas Season about to fall upon us, this can be both a sad and happy time of year. For my family, the season will be once again filled with the excitement of a child waking up Christmas morning to the anticipated surprises, good food, old friends and yes some good tunes. It is also a time of year that my wife and I reflect back upon the year, look at the good and bad and lay out some plans that we would like to accomplish in the upcoming year.

As many of you know, I lost my Mom back in September and this will be a tough time, but we will prevail. After Mom passed and all of the administrative functions were out of the way, Mom had left me a little bit of money for all of us. I always told her to spend it and don’t worry about us kids as we are all ok. For the most part Mom adhered to my words, but she still wanted to leave a little. I talked to my wife and said that we could toss it into one of our accounts, top off the education fund for our son, move more into the RRSP (401K) or whatever. What I wanted to do was to get something that would remind me of my Mom on an on-going basis and to have the ability to reflect from time to time in a happy way. My wife totally agreed with my thinking and with that I took part of the money and purchased the last component to my 2CH rig – The ARC VS115. Every time I turn that system on and chill out on some mellow music, I reminisce about the good times I had with my Mom and thank her for what she did for me. Truly this piece of equipment is here to stay and will NEVER leave my possession. Thanks Mom. :)

May all of you have a wonderful Christmas and a healthy and prosperous 2009.
Michael ;)

    Sorry for your loss! :(

Nice idea for investing some of the $$ She left for ya.

    Just an idea.....
Dunno if you liked Her kind of music but might be nice to purchase a CD of music She liked and play it now and then.
That'll really bring back fond memories!
    Just a thought.

Have a Happy and Safe Holidays to you and your Family.

I hear you Michael. Things might get a little tough during the holiday's but your loving memories of your Mom will prevail & that is all that is needed to put a great big smile on your face. It sounds like your ARC will become a family heirloom & will always rekindle thoughts of your Mom every time you turn it on. Job well done my friend!!!

That's how I remember my Grampa.
He played in Bands most of his life...Piano.
Big Band was his thing so now and then I'll slap in some Glen Miller or Duke Ellington.
    Brings back memories.

    Sorry for your loss, bro...

I did the same thing when I bought the F1 SLI-80 to remind me of my Pop`s

Unfortunately bills prevailed and I had to sell her.....

I did however put my tube rig together in honor of my Pop`s, as he used to make Heath Kits and played the vibes in a jazz band that featured my uncle (who still plays) on drums

every time I here Vibes in a piece of music, I think of my Pop`s.....Milt Jackson, Cal Tjader (who Pop`s knew, and I met) comes to mind
