I'm about to buy a new receiver. Will the Pioneer VSX-1018AH-K power my set-up adequately? I'm running a pair of Polk RTi10's, Csi5, and a pair of RTiA1's. My Yamaha RX-V2500 powers them just fine. I'm interested in this receiver because of the reviews/price and I want one with HDMI and DD TrueHD and DTS-MA without breaking the bank. Should I also consider the VSX-01TXH (Elite)? Or are these two the same unit with different names?

Hi, I don't have the 1018 but do have the 01TXH. I"m quite sure it would power your set up just fine. In fact, Dan (Mantis), from this forum installs HT and he absolutely loves the Elite/Polk combo.
The MCACC feature makes such a huge improvement. The price difference is little. If you can wait, get the 01. The Elite line uses better parts and are under a higher level of standard compared to normal Pioneer. The O1 is also THX. IMO, the THX cinema mode alone is worth it.

Thanks for the reply. I can get the 1018 for $400 from Pioneer. Is the 01TXH worth the price difference ($400 vs $750)? Looking at their specs. they look very similar. Is the build quality different or is the 1018 a rebadged 01TXH with a slightly different feature set? Do they have the same amp section?

Go with the 1018 and use that extra $350 to buy other toys.

That is a great price. The 1018 retails for $599 and the 01TXH for $750. If you can get a good deal on the 1018, see how much you can get an 01 for. A good dealer should not be charging retail. I got an excellent deal on the 01.
If you compare them at pioneerelectronics.com , you can see a side by side comparison of the specification. The amp sections are different in the two models. Power ratings is 20w/ch higher on the 1018. The THD measurements show the different quality in the amplifier stage. The 1018 was measured at 1kHz and the 01 at 20Hz-10kHz. Going by the specs, the amp section in the Elite should be superior.
