2 Feet in 24 Hours!

Crikey! We've had 2 feet of snow in 24 hours & it's still coming down! Our whole town is completely shut down w/only a few major arterials kept open for emergency vehicles.

I've got all wheel drive & need to attempt getting out, but I've got serious doubts about being able to go anywhere! Never been entirely snowed in, but I think that's what's happening.

HOWEVER, just got my system really well dialed in, a friend loaned me about 40 albums & I'm kicking back & listening to some great tunes! Nickel Creek, Diana Krall & lots more. It;s the prefect time for my system to finally sound so terrific.

Carpe diem!

    That's not even funny Ben!

I've been off all this week due to snow and icy roads in Portland (more due to school buses not being able to get traction on the ice and limited amount of snow removal equipment). Anyway, had a great time getting caught up on review listening time, not to mention honey-do's. The big question is, does my parochial school open up for just a half a day tomorrow before shutting down for Christmas break.

I wouldn't mind 24 inches! We Only got about 4-5 inches, but a few miles down the road they got a foot. Go figure! haha. Don't think I will be going to work tomorrow. 405 was a mess today!

Daughter got to go in the snow for the first time though.

Well, the snow has finally "stopped." But it's supposed to keep on hitting us off and on for the next few days!

Just managed to get my car out and barely made it to a main arterial, which hasn't yet been plowed. I felt like I was putting my life at risk by driving. It was that bad. Stuck cars all over the place & the city is still shut down.

But my kids are all home, there's no school tomorrow & we're kickin' back w/yummies & movies!

    & More music tomorrow...

You must be kidding me! We have 16" or more within 12 hours yesterday and everything shut down till today. We never suppose to have this much snow in High Desert area in CA. Thanks God the snow stopped falling last night but I have to shovel as much as 20" snow around the house, driveway, backyard and the street. :(

Well, we don't have a lot of snow plowers in our city so the only few our city own are so busy plowing the major streets and not even hit the city hall yet. :D

Yeah, our street won't see a plow for days yet & when we do, they'll plow our driveways in w/about a 4 foot mountain of heavily compacted snow. Then we'll have to use shovels (not the snow kind) to chip away and move the heavy berm aside. What a pain.

But it sure is beautiful around these here parts. Just gorgeous.

Eh two feet ain't nothing. I used to go to this cabin in Vermont, and the drifts were so bad you would be trying to stay on the surface, and the next thing you knew you were sunk up to your arm pits in the white stuff. My buddy lives in Canada and once in a while a sled(snow mobile) would go off the trail and totally disappear. some guys are not found till spring:eek:

yes, i've worked 28 hours over the past two days of snow falling almost non stop. It's finally stopped for now.. more is on the way.. but not nearly as much. Then guess what? we get this brute cold temps hitting us just in time for the weekend. minus 7 is what they are saying for the low on Saturday night.

Here is a picture I snapped of my two BBQ grills.

officially we got 24 inches of snow.. but up where bottomfeeder and I live on the South Hill. we got a total of 27 inches.

As Brent said, most everything was closed on Thurs.

The other pic is of my kitty Sunshine, sleeping through the whole thing. ;)

If my family is all home safe and sound, I love the snow. But if I have to go anywhere with the family (wife and kids), or still have to leave work to pick them up-- I'm a nervous wreck until we're all safe

We're suppose to have a foot by noon. Coming down very hard right now. Guess I have to keep brushing this dish off. Florida sounds good right about now.

Here by me it's hailing like crazy...we seriously have like an inch and a half of pure ice on the ground right now. We're supposed to be getting about 8-10 inches of snow throughout the rest of the night and through tomorrow too...

I guess that's what I get for living in Northern Illinois though.

I'd have to agree with that...Florida would be alright. I have a brother that lives down in Clearwater, Florida...I think I need to start going and visiting him every winter...lol

Eh. Some nice areas like A1A, Weston, Boca Raton, inter-coastal, and parts of Davie. The rest of it should be nuked, and start all over;) I do miss looking at all the hot chicks, diving at the coral reef literally 5 minutes from where I lived, the offshore fishing, and the weather. Other than that...

You might need to get some of that snow off of your roofs. For homes designed without Alpine style roofs snow wt can be a problem.

Yeah, some people say you need to get it off the roof and others say not yet.

We've had around 4 feet up there once, so I think we're still ok - at least for now. I'm going to look for a shovel w/an extension handle so I can get as much off of there as possible - if & when I decide to do it.
