Vm vs Rti

Looking to add to my HT and was hoping anyone out there wants to help...Currently have a Pioneer 92txh 130wpc..1.would the vm series go with the rtia5..2. Going to have to place front 3 speakers on wall...I know there are alot of comments with everyone saying that rti is best for HT..Havent seen any comments on Vm...for the rears i could put on wall but could also put on stands...preferably stands b/c wife is not too happy with speakers on wall that are going to stick out off the wall alot...So if anyone can help with suggestions or their personal opinions on the vm or rti series its greatly appreciated...thanks again!!

    I'm not real familiar with the VM series, but I do know they aren't voice matched to the RTi's. With HT you're really better off with speakers that are voice matched to one another.

    You said your front speakers were going to have to be wall mounted. Are you going to use the RTiA5's as your front speakers? If so, you're not going to be able to wall mount them to easily.

    If you're on a budget, Crutchfield has the RTi4 bookshelfs for about 200 dollars shipped, for a pair. These would be great matches to the A5 fronts. They have keyhole slots for wall mounting, and of course can also be stand mounted if you wish.

    There isn't much info on direct comparisons of the RTi series versus the VM series.

    As much as I love the RTi4 (still have a pair as my HT rears), with a bit of patience and $20 more you can get RTiA3s from Polk's ebay store.

    And I think not too long ago you could get the RTiA1s for less than $200/pr

    The RTi4s are getting to be 'vintage' finds these days - $200 seems a bit much to me.

    Then again, it could be that these RTi4s are "new" as opposed to "refurbished" from the Polk ebay store.

    H9: If you don't trust what you are hearing, then maybe you need to be less invested in a hobby which all the pleasure comes from listening to music.

    When my father in law was looking for a system we looked at the VM20's and the RTiA1's. The RTiA's smoked the VM series in almost every repect.

    The VM's would look much nicer mounted on a wall with your plasma (IMO) - but if sound quality is what you are after, RTiA's all the way.

    The price on those RTi4's is for new ones from Crutchfield, so that would be why they're a bit higher.

    I haven't seen any of the the RTiA1's on the ebay store yet. I'll have to keep my eye out for them. I was planning on getting four of the RTi4's, but if I could get the A1's for about the same price, I'd go for that instead.

    The RTI A5's are not wall mountable. Not alot of reviews on the VM series as they are fairly new to the market. Listened to them at our local stereo shop and I thought they sounded pretty good. Although they're lacking low end punch and they are very expensive. Your could buy a whole RTI A setup for what you're going to pay for the VM floorstanding speakers.

    Love the look of the VM series speakers:D

    Sure they are...you just have to build some custom brackets and tie them into a couple of studs. I don't know what the point would be though...lol...They'd sound a million times better on the floor anyway.

    Tell your wife that if you do mount the speakers on the wall, that they are double as shelves for her knick nacks. ;)

    was talkin to her last night about it and thats what i said about the sub....lol, i know the a5 arent mountable, sorry for confusion....the house is a townhouse i dont know if i can do in walls...so she might just have to accept the speakers on the wall...any one have the fxi a4 or a6 on wall...how does it look? does it come off wall alot? front 3 speakers on wall where tv is i dont mind b/c tv is about 8in off wall....

    My mother in-law put a vase on my sub. It looked nice, but it rattled right off during the beginning train arrival scene in Polar Express. :eek::D

    I have FXi3's for my surrounds and they come less than 7.5" off the wall...

    You might want to look into some satellite speakers. Rm series sound good and not real deep.
