Anyone have any alternatives to the metal Can-Am system.
It's what I'm looking for but VERY expensive!!
Looking to store 300-400 Cd's.

I have worked on my CD collection for about 20yrs and wanna safely and securely store it.
Many titles can't be replaced or are very costly to replace.

The M3D20x24 narrow is the one I like. $600 OUCH!!

Under $150.00 including the glass doors, which were more expensive that the bookcase. It's Ikea's "Billy" bookcase....stores at least 500 CD/SACD.

    Looks promising!!

    What's it made out of?
    Size and link to it?
All I find is the case and no doors.

The bookcase I have is the "full size" Billy bookcase. The color is "Black Brown". The link has information on the dimensions and what it is made of.

The frosted glass doors that I have are no longer available. Same with the CD storage inserts inside the bookcase (if you look closer). Ikea now offers other styles of doors in different sizes, along with extra shelves that you can get, for about $10.00 each piece, for custom configuration. I have had this unit for about 3 years, if not longer, and it has held up very well.

    Figures!
Back to the drawing board.

Prefer something metal with locking drawers anyway.

I use DiskGear for my DVD's, but you have to either store the cases separately or throw them away. It is a nice, reasonably cheap and quick way to get to the correct CD/DVD.

Nice idea but I like to keep em in their original cases.
That way I'm not as paranoid something will happen to the disk.
Still gotta store the Cases somewhere....might as well be with the Cd IMHO.

I have all my cd's in 3 carrousel players. 2 Sonys that store 400 each and 1 Pioneer that stores 300. I got rid of the plastic cd cases and put all the inserts in photo binders (of course I kept all the special cd cases). I use Music Collector for all the cd info and to print out lists.
