Okay, picked up Rock Band 2 Special Edition for the family for Christmas. My question is, for those that currently own this setup, how does the battery situation work. Does it come with rechargable batteries, no batteries, etc. Never even thought to look on the box before wrapping it and just wanna make sure I'm prepaired for Christmas morning. Thanks!

Don't worry, all the batteries that you need are in the box. Just unwrap, put the headstock on the guitar, assemble the drums, pop the batteries in, plug the receivers in the PS3 and you're off. You might want to pick up a USB hub if your PS3 version has only 2 USB ports, because you'll need at least 3.

You'll love it, it's a lot of fun, even for the parents!

For the 360, the pack comes with all hardwired instruments, so you don't have to worry about batteries. The only exception may be for the microphone. The reason for this is because when you use the microphone you also have to use it in conjunction with a regular 360 controller in order to navigate the screens. There is actually a pretty good microphone on the market made by Mad Catz that eliminates the need for the extra controller for the microphone. http://www.thetwistergroup.com/store/customer/product.php?productid=RBL098100%3C%3E02%3C%3E1%20D51105&source=fr

I'm pretty sure, although I could be wrong, but on the front of the kit it said "Wireless". I hate the thought that I may end up going home and unwrapping this to see what the deal is.

side note, I was at my buddies this weekend and the battery holder on his drum kit sucked! The batteries would jar'd loose while playing and the kit would shut off in the middle of the song. Not sure if this is common with all the drum kits or not. Our solution was to put some padding inside the clip (we cut up a sponge) to hold the batteries tighter and this fixed the problem.

The only USB device for Rock Band 2 is the microphone. Guitar and Drums are wireless. I have no issue with battery box on the drum kit at all and I bang the crap out of mine :-)

    And yes batteries included.

They now offer pads to stick on the drums to help with the sound of the drums can it can get a little annoying after a while. But yeah it's all included in the box (except the new pads)

Remember that the guitar and drums have wireless receivers that need to be plugged into the console USB ports.

I reported a SPAM post-it appears the mods deleted it, but left no placeholder-so it now looks like I was pointing to 66chevyIISS's post, but I wasn't.

All of you Rock Banders on 360 add me to your friends list. I'm Fireshoes360, and I'm a Rock Band addict. Got the Ion drums a couple weeks ago and I also have almost every downloadable song too. If you see me online, you are more than welcome to send an invite to play!

How are the Ion drums? I have thew 1st gen. drums from RB1, and they are so bad I rarely play the game. Worth the $300? Also, is there an option for us guys that prefer 2 bass drums?

I love the Ions so far. I had some sensitivity issues with the cymbals at first, but repositioning fixed it. On the RB1 kit, I thought I was hitting rolls right but I would always have misses. Now I am hitting them with the Ion. I really like being able to reposition the pads too. The pads are quieter (except the metal bass pedal, which is boomy on my floor). The RB1 kit just looks like a kiddie toy next to the Ion. :D

I don't understand this game. To me it looks like it is only electronic "air guitar"...but you can see "yourself".
