Fantastic looking speakers and with boxes to boot. I would say "Good Luck on your sale" but I doubt you will need it.

Just for the record, you will get much better sound if you can get them about 10" or so off the ground and tilted back at about 5 degrees..... (could be a little off on the height, but pretty sure about the tilt) The 10's can be a little boomy sounding when sitting on the floor like that.

(Just in case anyone drops by for a listen)

    Mains.............Polk LSi15 (Cherry)
    Center............Polk LSiC (Crossover upgraded)
Surrounds.......Polk LSi7 (Gloss Black - wood sides removed and crossovers upgraded)
    Subwoofers.....SVS 25-31 CS+ and PC+ (both 20hz tune)
    Pre\Pro...........NAD T163 (Modded with LM4562 opamps)
    Amplifier.........Cinepro 3k6 (6-channel, 500wpc@4ohms)

leroyjr1 Would you be willing to drop them off at your local "mailboxes, etc." for shipment? (They would box them up & everything on my dime.)
BTW (first...) -- has anyone out there had any bad experiences shipping 10's (e.g. misaligned mid-range drivers)?

Mailboxes, etc is a shipping store, like the UPS store.

I'd buy them but shipping to Hawaii wud be ridiculously high... sending a 50 lb amp set me back $300 via UPS from St Louis....

    :(

You don't need speakers in Hawaii. You should be outside enjoying the weather. It's snowing here.

    Great price! Be careful shipping...
I just shipped a pair and one of the mid-bass speakers got damaged due to the magnet shifting. After reading some of the threads here, wish I would have glued the magnets or shipped the woofers separate. Lesson learned for me.

leroyjr1 if you give me your zip, I'll look up a local shipper and see what it'll cost me. would you be willing to pull out the mid-range drivers and ask them to pack them separately? thanks

I'll get right back to you in a min. about a location, and will call for pricing manana.
BTW I pulled out and replaced a mid several years ago on my Model 10's (vintage '78). I can't recall if pulling off lugs was involved, or if they have to be unsoldered. Would you mind (and be equipped) if has to be the latter?

If you let me know which one is closest, I'll call tomorrow morning and see if this all makes sense cost-wise. OK with you? Would you be willing to drop them off?

OK, I'll check it out. If you'd like me to contact you directly once I know the score, send me your e-mail or phone by a Polk forum private message. Otherwise, I'll post here again tomorrow with more info when I have it.
    Out for now.

Thanks, leroyjr1. You're to be commended on your willingness to go the extra mile.

For all those other forum "listeners" out there, I contacted "Mailboxes, Etc." and got the following quote PER SPEAKER to ship the Model 10's:

    1. Per their recommendation -- to "double-box" up the speakers (which would already be in the orignal Monitor 10 cartons, thanks to leroyjr1), with internal padding = $41.00 each.

    2. Shipping to CA from WI: $64.00 each.

total $105.00 ea, for a total of $210.00 the pair.

Wish I lived next door. Unfortunately, my Christmas fund this year would be exceeded. :(
