Wrong Speaker Purchase?
I am currently upgarding my HT system. I just purchased a pair of Cambridge Soundworks T-205 Newton floorstanding speakers. These were to replace an old pair of Polk Monitor 7. After careful listening for about 1 week I have come to the conculsion that my old Monitor 7's sound better than the T-205. These speakers have great hi and mid range but no punch. I have a thirty day return on these speakers. I guess I should have purchased Polk from the very beggining. Also I have purchased a new Onkyo 706 7.1 receiver that I have not received yet. This could be some of the problem with the speaker performance (entry level receiver) Can some one suggest an upgrade from the monitor 7 in a Polk speaker. I listen to music 80 percent of the time although I will eventually upgrade my surround and center speakers also. Also I am running a second pair of speakers in the same room for 4 speaker sound . I am not that familar with 7.1 set up. Can the rear surround speakers also be used for 4 speaker listening in 2 channel mode. Sorry if this sounds elementary but I am still in the learning curve. But I appreciate good sound when I hear it. I am trying to hit the sweet spot with this new system. Thanks for your help

the RtiA 3 series of speakers by Polk might be a good choice if you're looking for a bookshelf speaker. check them out.. they look and sound great.

Actually I was considering floorstanding possibly rti a5. How much better would these be over the monitor 7's that I have

RtiA7 would be an upgrade to what you have now, but if youre mainly music over HT why not a pair of LSi15s.Shoot the jumper.....................BALLIN.............!!!!!
