I've been browsing the forums here for a couple days, and decided to make my first post...which I apparently have to do before I can reply to anything.

I don't currently own any Polk speakers...but I'll be getting some here in the near future, hopefully shortly after the holiday season is over. I'm new to the Audiophile world...so my system still isn't quite up to par with most yet, but I'll get there eventually.

I just bought an Onkyo TX-SR606 about 3 months ago...and it has changed the way I listen to music, I can't wait to hear it through some Polk speakers though. Right now I'm using some Goldstar (which is now LG) 3 way bookshelfs for my fronts. They each have an 8" woofer, with 3" mids and 1.5" tweeters. I'm not sure how they would stand up to a Polkaphiles standard...but they sound pretty good in my ear.

My surround speakers are pretty bad currently...I have a 5.1 Prodynamics satellite setup that I'm using for my center and surrounds, plus it has an 8" 100 watt powered sub...which does alright. The Prodynamics are one of the speakers from the infamous "White Van Scam" if any of you are familiar with that...but I only paid 60 bucks for the whole setup...so I'm not complaining.

Soon though I'll be upgrading...I've been looking at the now discontinued Monitor series speakers, because they can be had for pretty cheap now. I'm thinking about some Monitor 50's for my fronts, and Monitor 30's for my surrounds, with a CS2 center channel. I'm still not sure on what sub I want though...kinda looking at the PSW110.

Also...is there a way that I can change my user name? When I was typing it out I didn't realize that the last letter got cut off. It should be comfortably_curt, not comfortably_cur. Anyway I could cut the underscore out and make it comfortablycurt? Any help would be appreciated.

hah...my wallets usually screaming at me anyway.

So far I don't have to much invested into it. I paid about 350 for me receiver...my front channels I already had from a long time ago too, so that helps. The Prodynamics setup that I have though...I'm not complaining. I paid 60 bucks for it, and it's gotten me through the last 4 years or so. Considering how poor quality the Prodynamics are though, they really aren't that bad.

Are they junk? Yes...but I'm still glad that I have them so that I can at least use my 7.1.

My wallets gonna be hurting next year though when I start upgrading to Polks though. An SACD player and a blu-ray player are both on the list as well. So it's gonna cost me a bit...but it will be totally worth it.

    Thanks for the welcome.

Welcome to Club Polk and thanks for taking the time to post a proper introduction.

BTW, I answered your last question in your other post.
    Political Correctness'.........defined

"A doctrine fostered by a delusional, illogical minority and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a t-u-r-d by the clean end."
