New ADCOM AMP for my SRT setup

Hey all I am going to be setting back up my POLK SRT's in a month or two.
I currently own the following AMP's
ADCOM GFA 545II - 100 watts x 2
ADCOM GFA 5500 - 200 watts x 2
ADCOM GFA 5800 - 250 watts x 2
And am going to hook my system up something like this below.
So I am going to purchase 1 more ADCOM AMP to run this setup, I have it listed as a 555mkII (200 watts x 2) in this picture above, cause thats what I was thinking of buying, but it could be a different AMP, maybe I dont need that many watts on the center speaker?
PLEASE let me know what amp you would hook in what position above, maybe you would use the 5800 for the center and that way both sides of the SRT's would have the same watts using a 5800 and a 555mkII ? since both have 200 watts?
Or maybe use the 555mkII on the rear surounds, I just bought them they are not the original SRT surrounds, I will be using FXi A6's instead, and then use the 545II on the center, bi-amped thats 200 watts to the center.
Let me know what you think, before I go and buy something that is more or less than I might need.
I have been looking at buying either

Looks like you got it all coming together. Congrats 555II is perfect for Center channel. Most of the dialog goes thru center channel.

I have no idea of the power handling of any of the SRT speakers, I dont have a manual.
I am not sure if 400watts is to much for the center, and then if maybe 100 watts per surround is not enough.
If I reversed those to AMPs, I would be sending 200 watts to the center and 200 watts to each surround, but maybe thats not enough for center, and thats too much for surround?
The A6 surrounds are rated as up to 150 watts, so 200 watts might be wasted on them.
I could drive myself crazy with this stuff
I am just insterested in what others think, and would do in my situation, other than buying all new AMPS or something crazy. -
When you use a AVR or SPL meter to setup the system, the adjustments will balance out the system and you won't have to worry about that. Under powering speakers is the biggest problem.

Yea, I need to play with my Denon and see how well it lets me play with each pre out volume level, its burried under some boxes right now.
I used a mic it came with to setup my system before, but I might have lost it. -
I have another minior issue, it seems I can not find the type of cable I am looking for, if you notice above I need to split several mono RCA cables, I have ordered many of these
http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=104&cp_id=10401&cs_id=1040107&p_id=326&seq=1&format=2
and they will work fine I guess. But I was really wanting to use a Y cable, I would just run a single mono cable to the amp and then in to a short Y cable with 1 female to 2 male connections, the problem is the only Y cables I find like this are around 6" and the ADCOM amps put the RCA inputs on different sides of the back of the AMP, so I dont think it will reach very well.
You would think you could buy a 12" version of this kind of a cable, in one case above I need to split and run to two different AMPs, 12 inches would be a nice length of cable, so when it streached out it would reach 20 inches maybe. seems crazy to use cables that just will reach, I have done that before and it was pulled tight between the 2 female posts on the AMP! haha -
Nice diagram and perfect set up. You got a handle on getting those SRT's to sing.

Thanks, I am having fun playing with the diagrams for sure haha, I use Visio allot at work on network diagrams.
I just made a new diagram (below), because I am trying to make sure I order enough cables and connectors, monoprice.com has a great deal on banana plugs, I would not spend the money to use them everywhere unless I could get them that cheap to tell you the truth, and I might not use this many, but go ahead and order that many just incase even.

I have a splitter on my Sub preout into the control center. From the control center to each individual sub.
The subs need to be connected to the control center for adjustability as there is none on the plate amps of the subs.
Thats looking to be a great set up!!!In terms of audio, i truly feel sorry for the visually impaired. How can they know what they like if they cant read google?

Good point, I bypassed it for awhile, I think I was getting some hmm on the amps, but I ended up resolving it by lifting the ground plug on the AC power cords (maybe not a great idea, but it worked and I have not died yet)
I will try to run them back through the control unit this time. -
A bit of experimenting goes a long way.
I had a hum through one sub for a while.... I was using another power point for the sub in question, while pretty much everything else was on a multiboard. How i got rid of mine was to put my NAD amp to the point where the sub was and put the sub to the multiboard. In terms of audio, i truly feel sorry for the visually impaired. Yea, that must be caused with some kind of ground loop, or something, I know they make isolation transformers just for this kind of problem, but they cost money, so lifting the ground works, but you dont get ground protection.
I need to spend some money in the AC power department, but it will have to wait for now. -
Haha, ok new version then bass going through SDA control unit.

I would try with and without the PSW10 in the rear, it may cause more harm than good.

Front SRT speakers are rated at 4 ohm. Power handling: >1000 watts rms.
Center SRT speaker is rated at 8 ohm. Power handling: >1000 watts rms.
Surround SRT speakers are rated at 4 ohm. Power handling: 100 watts rms.SRT For Life; SDA Forever!

In most situations you almost can't have TOO much power ...
As far as the specs on the SRT Center, the manual ( I sent you a copy ) states it can handle more than 1000 watts and is 8 ohms.
When the stereo and SDA arrays in the satellites are separately driven they are 8 ohms.
The rear SRT SDA's can handle more than 500 watts and are 8 ohms.
My SRT's are somewhat different than most as they were factory altered to use external amplification for the subs rather than the original plate amps.
I've tried a variety of amps and configurations to drive the front sound stage, rears and sides. The diagram shows the typical configuration I run with the satellites getting 400+ WPC @ 8 ohms individually to the stereo and SDA arrays from the Sunfire's and the subs getting 600+ WPC from the Cinepro 1K2. -
Front SRT speakers are rated at 4 ohm. Power handling: >1000 watts rms.
Center SRT speaker is rated at 8 ohm. Power handling: >1000 watts rms.
Surround SRT speakers are rated at 4 ohm. Power handling: 100 watts rms.
Whats up with the fronts being rated at 4ohm? is that only if you ran the SDA Control Unit out to both sides of the fronts? that would run both the normal and SDA parts of the speakers together off same amp and would bring 8ohms down to 4ohms maybe? so they have to list them that way? -
I use a 2 male RCA to 1 female RCA cable in my system I prefer these over I have ordered many of these

Yeah as above, it depends on if both SDA and Stereo array are run out off the control unit ie one powered speaker input in from amp and two out for each speaker as opposed to powering them with 4 different amplified channels.
Definately need to run subs through control center, it gives a great deal of flexibility on bass management. I would leave the PSW 10 in the rear and actually ran a PSW 650 in the rear for a while myself. just fills the room a bit better. -

Yea so I would think they are 8ohm per each side of the front cabnets, and would be 4ohm if you ran each speaker (both non-sda and sda sides of speaker) off of 1 channel of a AMP (in parallel I guess) -
Hey all, just a update here, I finally got my house renovation done, and my SRT system is sounding great, I have it hooked up just like in the diagram above.
I posted some good pictures on the new area and also my stereo system on HGTV rate my space.

Let me know what you think. -
Very nice.

that system looks good, but does not go with that decor:eek:.so to remedy that problem, give me the srt system:D:D.the whole house looks great:)
