CSi 5 or CSi A6

Here's my dilemma. What to do, what to do.

Down to 2 choices. A CSi 5 at $250.00 excellent cond. or a CSi A6 $379.00 plus tax. Is there a big enough difference between the both to justify the difference in price ? Is $250.00 a good price for the CSi 5?

In your opinion, what would work better with the gear that I have?

EDIT. I did some looking on line and see the CSi 5 at JR's for $250.00 new, so to answer my earlier question, $250.00 new is not hot as I origionally thought. I'm going to negotiate and see what I can do.

Well I'm in the same boat as you, I think the difference is the CSi A6 has a better cabinet which would result in a better sound. You can check Polk direct on ebay the CSi A6 are going for like $129.00, I'm waiting for one to be placed up so I can buy. Good luck hope some else will help a little more.

I have had both in my system and they sounded exactly the same. Get whichever one is the cheapest.

Just be patient...every couple of days the Polk e-bay store is adding more speakers. They had the CSiA6 last week or maybe the week before for $129 + $20 shipping!
Killer deals at their store and I have never heard of anybody getting a bad speaker. All of them are like new.

You can also call them at the main Polk # and ask to speak with their eBay dept. I got my 4 fxi-a4s like that. They will give you whatever "buy it now" price is current, and may or may not have what you need. The csi-a6 I got from there was in new condition, and I returned the one I bought for $450.

I am running both in the CSi 5 and the A6 in my system (I'm running two centers) and I can't tell a difference in sound between the two with my setup. 6th Avenue had the CSi 5 on sale for a while. I picked one up from them at $199.00 minus shipping. I'm not sure if they still have them or not, but it's worth checking.

I've had both--Any potential sound differences aside....(My novice ear couldn't tell.)
The Cherry finish between the CSi5 and the CSiA6 is slightly different-perhaps a bit more brown in the CSiA6 (IMO). This may be important if your trying to match to other speakers. I have the RTi12s so the better match for me would have been the CSi5, but since its a center and its mostly concealed in an entertainment center I didn't mind. The finish difference is slight. My RTi12s matched the entertainment center better. Not sure if you can notice the difference between the CSiA6 and the Shelf its on or not....

Another difference is the front of the CSi5 is silver with wood veneer all around everywhere else. The CSiA6 is wood veneer all around including the front. My preference is the wood veneer on the front vs. the silver.

As for why I switched?? I already had my RTi12s and had picked up a CSi5 floor model sight unseen. When I got it home I noticed (and so did my wife) many scratches and dings-I took it back tothe store and bought the CSiA6 since the CSi5s really couldn't be found anywhere.

The CSiA6 is a fraction taller as well. My CSi5 fit snugly, the CSiA6 wouldn't fit-I had to move the shelf to make more room.

Here's a shot of my RTi12s and the CSiA6 without grills. I usually run them with grills, but if I had the RTiA9's I might run them all without grills. I just don't like the silver look.
