Nitwit Ebay buyer of Polk speakers

Hello all,
I just sold a very nice pair of Monitor 10s to an Ebayer that goes by the name of "datamax2000". First off i would like to mention my auction had a 7 day return policy that he didn't take advantage of. Don't ask me why he waited so long. Here is what he wrote me 14 days after the auction ended.
"Dear mfell2112,
waited to respond to you. speakers where packed great no doubt about that. however also no doubt as to all the wooflers/mid drivers are frozen up and do not work correctly. polk drivers do freeze due to age and I dont imagine shipping them was the cause here so the only thing left was that you knew they where bad. I just got off the phone with polk audio and the 4 replacement drivers are going to cost me 200 dollars."
Here is my response to him:
"Dear datamax2000,
The woofers WERE NOT FROZEN UP!!!!!!!Why the Hell would I sell speakers with frozen woofers? And why would you buy new woofers from Polk when they are a dime a dozen on Ebay? I have perfect feedback for a reason. I have sold vintage drum sets, a $2400.00 Prophet 5 synth. I take offense to your statement saying I knew the woofers were frozen but i sold them anyway. I had these on Craigslist forever and one of the losing bidders who goes by the name of leroyscarborough was supposed to come look at them in person and he also asked during the auction whether local pickup WAS allowed. Of course I said local pickup is fine. I should have just sold them on Craigslist so I could avoid the Ebay nitwits. Several people offered me $125.00 for them. I thought they were worth more so i put them up on Ebay. Oh well lesson learned. Oh and I am a professional musician and have several vintage stereo systems in my house. I forgot more than most people know about this stuff and I don't sell junk. Also, I left you feedback as soon as you paid me. Now really if those speakers were bad do you actually think i would have left positive feedback for you right away? I always leave feedback as soon as the buyers pay because I sell great products and have confidence in what i sell. Also, I find it odd you waited two weeks to tell me this. Two weeks!!! If it were me and the woofers were really bad i would have contacted the seller immediately. I also find it odd that you would be willing to drop $200.00 on a pair of speakers that are worth $175.00. Of course most likely you just expect me to pay for them i can imagine. Here is my phone number. 262-654-6214. I want to "hear" you tell me the woofers were bad."
Of course no phone call, no response whatsoever after this.

What's up fellow Wisconsinite. I'm leroy the one that was looking at your speakers from Milwaukee. I was going to bid on these but they sold for a lot more than I wanted to pay. I also believe you when you stated that they were in working condition when you shipped them because you were trying to get me come take a listen.
Also I would edit your post and take your phone # off. You still have a couple minutes. Alot of people don't ship those type of items for this specific reason. -
It's common for the woofers to freeze from being dropped while shipped. They should always be shipped separately."He who fights with monsters should look to it that he himself does not become a monster. And when you gaze long into an abyss the abyss also gazes into you." Friedrich Nietzsche

Bottom line they get damaged very easily in shipping. This is nothing new.
BenPlease. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Make sure to include who you are, and you are from Polk so I don't delete your email. Also I am now physically unable to work on any projects. If you need help let these guys know. There are many people who will help if you let them know where you are.
Thanks

Regardless of the nitwittery of the buyer, that response of yours isn't what I'd want to send someone involved in a dispute. Has a slightly unhinged and overcompensating quality to it.

I agree but I became unhinged when he stated that i knew the woofers were frozen but i sold them anyways. I take a great deal of pride in being an honest person and when someone accuses me of being dishonest i take offense to that.

Could the mods please remove his phone #? Pretty please with sugar on top?
Mfell, don't worry about his cat. He should have notified you much earlier. Feedback has already been left. Just chalk it up to a lesson learned. The only thing else I'd like to add is that PP sucks.~ In search of accurate reproduction of music. Real sound is my reference and while perfection may not be attainable? If I chase it, I might just catch excellence. ~ -
I have sold many things on ebay and recently there have been changes on ebay I think are completely unfair to the seller. The seller can't give a negative feedback or at least explain his side of the dispute. Everything now goes thru pay pal which is a rip off and more fees. I feel for you. Sellers are at the complete mercy of the buyer and if he is an idiot, goodbye positive feedback. I bought two SDA speakers thru ebay a pair of SDA 1C's and SDA CRS speakers. Both had issues with them. The SDA 1c's came from Colorado and had two frozen drivers. The SDA CRS had a broken quick disconnect. I was glad both arrived physically in good shape but as others have said it is very hard to ship speakers without some issues. I am sure you did not ship your speakers with frozen mid's. If I ever decide to sell speakers or buy speakers, I think pick up only is the only way to go from my experience.Polk HT system 1: LSIC, LSI25 mains, LSI F/X rears, Lsi F/X rear centers,

Personally I think you should have removed the drivers prior to shipping. That is the only way to ship Polk Monitors. The buyer may indeed be a nitwit, but he paid for working speakers, and they did not arrive in working condition. I will say that that the guy is handling it all wrong by not being diplomatic and spouting off accusations. Still, I would be upset too if I paid for working speakers and they arrived with seized drivers, but then I would not have Polk's shipped with the drivers in the cabs. If he didn't call you, he could have just been lying and trying to get one over on you.

The exact reason I don't like to buy/sell speakers on Ebay. I shipped a "complete" pair a few years ago and what a pain in the a** that was. I'll ship raw drivers but those cabinets are a pain to pack unless you have original packing and can take that a couple of steps further. Now, if they are really BIG speakers, I can ship them on a pallet from work via Fedex, etc. A little more expensive, but they tend to make it without a hitch.Richard?
