I have been reading some very interesting articles about giving up the whole 5.1 and 7.1 and going 2.0.

Who here @ Club Polk is currently doing this?

    2.0 ≠ Home Theater.

I use two R30's on the kids rig, just to have something better than the crappy speaks that are integrated in the LCD.

    I don't think I'd ever give up on a 5.1 to go to a 2.0 system.

I am sorry, I have no opinion on the matter. I am sure you do. So, don't mind me, I just want to talk audio and pie.

I have used 2.0 in the past, with a very good integrated amplifier and very good speakers, and found it very convincing (to say the least), but I was able to sit right in the best spot for listening. With the right speakers, bass and dynamic punch can certainly be very good, but you might want to at least consider 2.1, for proper rendition of the LFE channel. I would not have such strong reservations as some have voiced about going to 2.1, although I might be disappointed were I to actually do so, and change my mind. I wouldn't know until I did it. My point is, 2.0 was very good when I had it, with my equipment at the time, and as I remember it to be (which is very subjective, obviously, and may not be accurate) ... with the right speakers again, I would be willing to try it.
