My SDA SRS 2.3 system - bsoko2

Mains and surrounds are running as "Large" with a 80 hz crossover. Subs - HSU MBM's and HSU 3.3's are calibrated "hot" (78 - 80 hz) by reciever pink tone. Sytem puts out the bass when called for with no problems. Those that question running large vs small; well I feel that you miss too much detail in the audio track when running small and you can see from my setup that those big Polk SDA SRS 2.3's love the power. With these big speakers I can pump up the volume and have no distortion in audio and the clarity and detail is astounding. I have Polk Monitor 10's as my L & R surrounds with JBL E50's for rear surounds.

I would try running the 2.3's as full range without the subs for music. Even movies I wouldn't cross them higher than 60hz.
BenPlease. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Make sure to include who you are, and you are from Polk so I don't delete your email. Also I am now physically unable to work on any projects. If you need help let these guys know. There are many people who will help if you let them know where you are.
Thanks

I have tried to run them full range for movies. The MBM/3.3 combo does much better with the bass then the SDA as I can get 107 db in the gunfight scene in Open Range and the Pod emerging from the street in War of the Worlds. The SDA's can't get that. I do listen to music with the SDA's in full range without the subs engaged, and when I do movies, I engaged the MBM/3.3's for that good down low slamming bass! Besides, the MBM/3.3 combo is EQ'd by an Anti Mode 8033 LFE EQ managment system. And I also have my sub/LFE volume controlled by a single Paradigm X-30 volume controller. I can up or down the subs volume all at once with the X-30.

With all your subs, I'd probably do the same for HT unless you take the MBMs out of the equation. I'd try a few combinations to achieve the flattest, best sounding response. I think you might find you're over-subbed now in the midbass. The SDAs offer a ton of slam above 50hz and might sound more balanced. Musicly, running them with your subs would be like adding salt to pizza...too much.

Nope! It's going away to a client with a complete JBL Northridge 5.1 speaker system.

The Polk site on the 2.3 indicates that if you bi-amp the speakers then you don't need the interconnect. Is this true?

I bet they are talking about the jumper wires that connect the high and low side together at the binding posts, not the interconnect between the speakers.
