Upgrading the SRS

As I mentioned in a separate thread a couple of days ago, I was lucky enough to come by a pair of SRS in average condition but now it is time to get them to their best. I ordered some new grill cloth for the front grills (not sure how one would go about re-placing the grill cloth on the sides of the speaker without literally taking them apart so I'll leave them alone). I also found a MW 6503 driver on ebay reasonably priced to replace the one I have out now.

At this point, I guess the next thing to do would be to upgrade the crossovers. Is there a 'preferred' method (certain caps, etc) recommended for this? Or perhaps a place to send my crossovers off to to have them updated? I'm guessing the crossover board simply unscrews from the front of my SRS (or is any of it on the back terminal plate?). There is a place in Texas that specializes in crossover repairs (GR Research...haven't used them but they look like they know what they are doing. Whether they know anything about SDA crossovers, I don't know yet).

Lastly, I'm guessing after I get my crossover running up to speed I should replace all the tweeters from the translucent yellow ones I have now to the black ones.

Any other upgrades I should consider? I tried several searches but it always comes up with 500+ threads, none of which seem to be what I am looking for. Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Regards,

Dave

Please. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Make sure to include who you are, and you are from Polk so I don't delete your email. Also I am now physically unable to work on any projects. If you need help let these guys know. There are many people who will help if you let them know where you are.
    Thanks

    Dave,

There is atleast 1 if not a couple more threads on removing the side panels for re-clothing. It is a painstaking and slow process but it can be done. You are correct there is a bit of dis-assembly involved.

I believe Darqueknight did a "how-to" about 3-4 years ago with pics and a step by step process and Lasareth may have a step by step process thread as well.

    Good luck
