New system.

Hi. This is my first home system. Room is 10' by 15'. My system is:
Onkyo TX SR506
Polk Monitor 50's
Polk PSW 10 sub
Polk CS2 center
TS100 side speakers (or back).
Is this a fair set up for a starter? Using this system for movies and music. Also, considering picking up a 2nd PSW 10 sub. Will this be a added improvement or am I wasting the money. All advice would be greatly appreciated.

Congratulations on new system and welcome the Club Polk. You describe your system as a "starter" which suggests you'll fit right in here.

You might try switching the TS100s and the Monitor 50s. TS is newer line therefore presumably in some sense, cosmetic if nothing else, better than the Monitors.

Oops --- I confused 100s and 300s. Ignore 2d paragraph previous post please.

I purchased the TS 100's because I couldn't find the monitor 30's. I was told that the TS 100's would be fine for the side/back speakers even though they are not the monitor series. Was I told wrong? What about running a 2nd sub? Thanks........

I asked Eric Wong from polk customer service about tsi and monitor series mis matching. He post on the forum here often and he said that they are similar in all categories and it should be fine. The tsi replaced the monitors anyways. I will find that thread and post that response, as far as a second sub, it was the best move I made. I dont have any dead spots in my room now and its great spl on movies. I think if you dont feel like you have enough right now a 2nd wouldnt hurt or maybe trying new placement areas for the one you do have right now IMO. Some might even say investing in a better sub. Others will chime in.

I am running all monitor series and I love it. No its not the top of the line polk speakers but for the money, I think they are some of the best speakers in their price range especially at their price range now. I am running 50's fronts, 40's surrounds and 30's for rears. Now are there better speakers and equipment out there, of course. But at the end of the day I am satisfied because I bought the best my budget could afford. And thats what matters to me. Eventually I will move up but for now I am pleased with my sound. So I guess what I am trying to say, is that its all about whats best for u. Hope this helps.

I also run all Monitor's for my fronts and surround and couldn't be happier. For what I paid for them, I def. got my money's worth. Congrats on the system, and welcome to Club Polk.

Ok, time for some bigger bass. The PSW 10 is just not enough. Been told about HSU subs. Would it be better to stay with Polk? What Polk sub would rattle the walls for music and theater in the 400-600 range? Mudbug

Maybe I should have posted this question in the sub section?

Look at the Polk DSW series for your sub.

    Welcome to Club Polk.
