Hello Polk Gurus
Let me start out by saying I am the happiest person on earth today. Yesterday I got my dream speakers. I wanted a set of SRS's but these will do.
Well I picked up a pair of SDA-2's, and I am happy as a clam :):) They are gorgeous, I got them from the original owner, they need new grill cloth (cat scratch fever) who cares, grill cloth is easy to replace. I listened to them when I got them with an ignorant ear. They sounded great, they still do, just not as good.
But .
I dont hear anything coming out of the SDA speakers (the outer tweeter and woofers).
Ive done the following troubleshooting.
The Connecting cable is good I checked it with a VOM. Big to big good small to small good.
I checked the fuses all 4 good although not matching I dont think this should matter at this second.
I know I need a common ground amp. I have a Sony STR-DE1000ES receiver. Is this common ground? I dont want to change this I LOVE this receiver. <><><><><> .
When I auditioned it it was hooked up to an Onkyo TX-85. I picked it up too but sold it to a co-worker for the price of the speakers and receiver. Did I mention I basically got the speakers for free and a 5 mile drive? Dont hate me. Thank God for Craigslist and the Internet.
OR do you not hear anything from the second set of drivers because they are only for noise canceling?
Help Please,
Mike

Check that your speaker cables are wired in phase. Black to black and red to red. Also, be advised that the SDA drivers play about 6dB less than the stereo drivers. Did you get the owner's manual, which explains proper set up?Political Correctness'.........defined

I checked the polarity first. I do have the manual and they are hooked up correctly.
I cupped my hands around the tweeter and nothing. The woofer is hard to tell because it is connected by air space to te rest of the system.
I get zero ohms accross the connecting cable plugged into either speaker. I don't know if this is normal or not.
Thanks for the fast reply. What are you doing up so late? -
I meant Infinity Ohms. An open circuit.

In that case, you might have a loose connection inside one of the cabinets, perhaps at one of the crossovers. Also, double check that those fuses are good and that there's no oxidation on the fuse holders.....in fact, clean them anyway.Political Correctness'.........defined

Thanks F1nut for all the help. You were close. I cleaned the fuses and that did not do it but I'm sure it didn't hurt either.
It was the connecting cable. I was able to get it to work a little by moving the connector around. So after about 45 minutes of playing with it I thought.... What about a little deoxidizing spray. It was soundiing like dirty pots. Pssst... Pssst... Plug them in... The went in much easier.
WOW they are resurected.
Now I just wish my wife wasn't asleep. :-( I should let them dry any ways.
Thanks again for your help.
