So I have this equipment from my grandfather. Very nice stuff, just need to know what you think is the best settings to use.

Mains- Polk SRS 3.1TL -3db 32hz-25khz
Center- Polk CS350-LS -3db 60hz-25khz
Sides- Polk LS f/x -3db 50hz-24khz
Rears- Polk RM101 -3db 130hz-20khz
Sub- Polk PSW505 -3db 28hz-125hz

Using a Pioneer VSX-74TXVi receiver and the auto calibration modes works wonders on my room, but need to know if I should leave the speakers at what it detected, and what is the recommended crossover?

Mains, Center, Sides=Large
Rear=Small

Thanks,

Ryan

Ryan, grandfather sounds like someone to know. Congrats !

I would try setting the XO at 60hz. Your mains will go lower than your sub but they may not have the same output as the sub 20-60hz.

If you can take the time to learn REW it will help you make better discsions such as crossover, is the sub helping at all and placement.

Excellent system. Does the Pioneer have pre-outs ? If so you can put an external AMP on the SRSs. My last receiver was a Pioneer VSX816, my son has it now. Its a great receiver for the money and has 110wpc.
Speakers: SDA-1C (most all the goodies)
Preamp: Joule Electra LA-150 MKII SE
Amp: Wright WPA 50-50 EAT KT88s
    Analog: Marantz TT-15S1 MBS Glider SL| Wright WPP100C Amperex BB 6er5 and 7316 & WPM-100 SUT
    Digital: Mac mini 2.3GHz dual-core i5 8g RAM 1.5 TB HDD Music Server Amarra (memory play) - USB - W4S DAC 2
Cables: Mits S3 IC and Spk cables| PS Audio PCs

I have been playing around with REW. Got the sub out of a corner in the room and sounds a lot better. I still don't think the center, and sides should be at large they aren't true full range. I don't want the system to be boomy I just want the impact feel. Having the center and sides at large I can feel a dramatic loss of low frequency response as to having them at small. Just don't know about the mains. Just have to play with REW and see how loud the mains can reproduce what frequencies efficiently without the sub. My grandfather did have 3 90's vintage Sony ES amps that were insane wattage power. Unfortunately he sold them along with his Sony TA-E1000EsD PreAmp.

Those speakers like power. You definetly want them large. I do not run my PB13 Ultra for music. the SDA-1Cs I have do just fine.
