They should entice Iaccoca to come out of retirement to oversee this.

Just a new government position full of red tape. Long after the crisis is over, they will never eliminate the position.

Good, then the next time congress doesn't do their job and the economy collapses into a crisis state, we won't need to go through all of this again.

With the exception of Lee Iaccoca creating the Eagle brand of cars, he's got probably in my eyes the best shot to getting the Big 3 up and running sustainably again. The last thing we need for that position is someone that knows jack about the auto industry at all.

Good op-ed piece in the NYT today suggesting that "Car 2.0" is already being invented, and throwing $ at Detroit to keep "Car 1.0" going for a few more years is tantamount to investing "billions of dollars into the CD music business on the eve of the birth of the iPod and iTunes..."

Yeah wonderful. Congress is almost solely responsible for all the crap going on lately and now theyre going to take over businesses to fix things?!

Yeah this should work out right. The government cant deliver the mail! For God's sake how the hell are they going to fix the auto industry?

If the Government stays out of it, the industry will fix itself. They know this, but the Democrats need to buy the Union votes.
