Since I joined the forums I've had the opportunity to check out pics of other LS90's. I've noticed something that's made me uneasy.

Did the LS90's only come with silver tweeters? Because mine are black.

well, it doesn't appear that way. They are a uniform black. Dome and all. I'll post pictures later.

This isn't a picture of them but this is what they look like. The picture is of a cs250 so I'm assuming since I bought them used, the original tweeters were replaced with this type.

Mine are silver. That goes for the cs-350 and fx-1000's too.

Wallstreet's photo depicts the same tweeter utilized in the LS70's I originally purchased in 1995. I believe the part number is SL6000 and there is a sticker on the tweeter magnet stating this. I found this out due to recently replacing them with some SL6001's. The SL6001's differ from the SL6000's with a donut shape magnet (or cast metal dampner?) glued to the back of them. Otherwise they appear to be identical. It was suggested to remove the extra chuck of metal when I installed them, but due to my laziness I didn't and they sound great. A considerable improvement over the worn out SL6000's. Both had silver domes.

On another note I worked in manufacturing for several decades and it wouldn't surprise me if your LS90's were originally equipped with those black dome tweeters. Whether they belong there or not, if they sound alright to you I would not hesitate to enjoy listening to them. Regards.

If I am not mistaken, the 6001 has the "bucking" magnet that acts to video shield the tweeter. They aren't supposed to have an impact on the sound.

Is there a difference between the sl6001 and the sl 6502, other than the mounting method? Thanks
