Hi all,
I just got my RM 85's and PSW111 sub semi hooked up.
I ran the Audyssey set up then changed all the speakers to 80 hz.
I am thinking of making this a 7.1 system by adding a pair of Monitor 30's as the fronts.
Any thoughts.
Thanks

I think I would up that cross over to 100hz or maybe a little higher for the RM85. If you can set the cross over seperatly and go with the M30 set those to 80hz and keep the 85's at 100-110 hz. If you don't like the sound experiment a little (part of the fun:)) but I think 80hz for the 85's is too low.

Funny, I actually did change them last night to 100 and did like it better. So right now I have the RM8 front and center at 100. I will hook up the RM7's this weekend as the side speakers (I have wall mounted Pioneers for the backs already) and have 7.1
Should the 7's be at 100 as well?
    Thanks for the help.

Try the 7's at 100 or 120, they don't have the double driver like the 8's do.

    Great, thanks Eric.
I was thinking of Monitor 30's (good deals on them now) for the front. If I do that should I move the 7's or the 8's to the back surrounds?

I'd rather put the 8's on the sides, because of the Wide Dispersion Array.

What do you think about the 30's with this set up?

It's not the best match but if you already have the RMs and want larger front speakers then you should go for it.

If you want a "fully matched" system, it would be best to use RMs all the way around. But if you're looking to do bookshelves in the front, then the Monitor 30's will be fine.

OK, so I hooked up all the speakers ran Audyssey and now it set the fronts (RM8's) and center at 150 and the RM7's at 100. I am totally confused at this point.
I am going to change the 8's and center to 100 and the 7's to 120. The sub is at 120 as Audyssey set it.
    Any other suggestions?
    Thanks

I would try running Audyssey again, make sure nothing like your furnace or refrigerator kick on. If it does the same thing then it might be adjusting for room effects. Then it's up to your ears. Do you like it better with the Audyssey settings or your manual settings (which sound more in line with the speakers)?

Funny you should say that. My furnace did kick on the last time the sub was going off. Actually it did the sub twice that time.
    I will run it today.
    Thanks

I have the RM85 speakers and a Denon avr-789 receiver. When I Run audissey all speakers except the center tells me they are wired incorrecty. I quad checked them and they are wired exactly as they should be. Anyone else have this problem or are my speaker post backwards?

I have the rm8s as sides and rears. They always show up as being out of phase, but if you look in your receiver manual it will tell you that this happens sometimes. Just make sure they are wired correctly and skip that step.

As for the crossover settings, I think the rm8's only go down to 120hz. Before I got the RTi A5's, and CSi A4 for my fronts and center, I crossed mine at 120, and had my psw111 play 120 and below. That's what sounded best to me, but each person may like something different.

The rm8's actually sound pretty good with my RTi A5's. I'm sure some FXi's as surrounds would sound better, but the little rm's do the job of surrounds fine for now. I was really surprised at all the sound those little speakers put out.

I would like to upgrade one day though to the FXi A surrounds to match the rest of my speakers. It will be awhile though, because next comes the sub upgrade. I believe and svs pb12-nsd is in order. I would really like to hold out for the svs ultra, but that would really take some time to save up for.
Denon 1909, want to upgrade for pre outs
    Fronts-polk RTi A5
    center-polk CSi A4
    Sides Polk FXi A6
    rears- polk rm8's
    sub-SVS pb-13 ultra
    Blue ray-ps3
    Panasonic plasma 50 inch
Buttkicker(don't use or need it anymore since getting the Ultra)
