Butler audio amp question

I have the opportunity to buy a Butler Audio TDB 2250 for $650.00. I have looked at the specs and some reviews that have been positive. I was wondering if any of you have ever listened to these amps? I have to drive about 3 1/2 hours to get there and was wondering if I would end up liking it. I tend to like warmer sounding amps btw. I know you all will say to listen and for me to be the judge and I would if it were closer so I really need some input from those that are familiar with it. Just looking for overall impressions or opinions, good bad, or in between. Thanks.:)

A Butler amp for $650? You gotta be kidding. Stop wasting time and buy the damn thing before it gets gone.

I take it that the amp is good then, lol. Gotta wait till next week to take a listen. Never heard of this company before but then again I have not heard of tons of higher end companies. Just didn't want to drive 7 hours total for a high priced piece of junk. But coming from you I will go take a listen for sure. Thanks.

I know someone on a different forum that owns one. He just absolutely LOVES the Butler amp. Its looks like a great design. The hybrid type amp is very interesting. I wish i could get the chance to hear one, but regardless the design is very nice and these are well built amps.

BigMac, There's a 5 channel version, the 5150, for sale on the Emotiva Forums right now. The 5150 has the same list price according to the Butler website. Its selling for $1950 used.

Butler stuff is cool. Mostly all hybrid with tube driver stage and SS outputs. I have their car amps that are balanced by the way and sold them starting in 1994. They were reliable too.

I have one and still use it everyday. Powerfull, warm, musical, quiet as can be,and after 3 years so far,not a hiccup out of it.For that kind of coin,I would be on the road in a heartbeat after I was assured nothing was wrong with it.Good luck, let us know if you grab it.Remember not to run it in mono with anything less than an 8 ohm speaker.

A buddy of mine at the gym was doing work for some people down in the Outer Banks (NC). He noticed the guy had alot of audio equipment sitting around not being used and asked about the stuff. He knows I am back into 2 channel and that's how it all started.

Actually $650.00 is high for me BUT if this amp sounds as good as the reviews and you all say then I will sell a few things that I do not need to pay for it. $1900.00 is wayyyyy outside my price range.

I talked to the guy this morning and it is set up for Friday. I will be driving down to the Outer Banks for the day. He said we could listen to it on 3 different sets of speakers. Never heard of any of them but these are the 3 he has; Spendor Monitor BC-3, Philips FB-1000, and Diatone DS-1000. He said he has others but does not want to drag them out.....says wife would be pissed, lol.

I got back from OBX a little earlier and I did not buy the amp. It was in piss poor condition inside and the rest of the equipment looks ok on the outside but the insides are in terrible condition (all kinds of debris and rust). Wanna know why.......this guy is a THIEF that took tons of stuff when hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans. After I found that out I left. Was talking with him and after I guess he felt comfortable with me he spilled the beans. What a moron!!!!! Wasted over $100.00 on gas and food ( the crab was good though)and a whole day for nothing. Needless to say I am a little frustrated but hey, I still have my $650.00.
