So maybe it's not really 'news', but a heads up that we're in a woot-off.

What's a 'woot-off'? How's that different from just regular wooting?

BTW, your link cost me money. I got to looking at their shirts last night and ended up buying two of them!

Per the wiki link, I didn't realize that Woot was able to make that much money. But I guess that shouldn't be surprising since they offer good products at great prices...

It's pretty rare that Woot offers what people would consider "good products." I love them, it's the techy consumer in me, but I'd say the majority of the products they offer up are somewhere between pretty crappy and mediocre, and usually the "good" stuff is refurbed.

I couldn't belive the woot the other day-A cheapo marshmallow gun for $5 (+$5 s/h).

Sold out by 8am. They sold about 24500 of them.:eek::eek::confused:
I belive most of the sales were in Utah.

That's just crazy right there. I love checking out the statistics-pretty cool stuff.

What the heck. I was just on there, they had an HP desktop that said Sold Out. Looks like they only had 5 of them. I refreshed the screen and now there's a Monitor, but its already sold out.

So I refreshed again, and now its a Wine glass set of sorts. The first woot was done in 4 seconds. Is there some kind of honors list or something for wooting first? Damn 4 seconds is not enough time to process the info to make a decision. well at least not for me.

You have to be quick during the wootoff. I've missed out on many a deal because I was not watching it closely enough and not refresing the page enough.. At the end of the woot off they usually end with the bag o junk which the sell for $1 each buy the max if you can and you might get nice stuff. A former co-worker won a bigscreen TV and it cost him $6.

    That's awesome!

A router just sold out and now they have a 26" LG LCD monitor for $369. That's what I bought my 19" for a few years ago!

They only had one of those LG monitors. Woot-Offs were developed as a way to clear out their warehouse of leftovers from previous woots. Some times they have more of each, other times there may only be one hanging around. Hence why you want to be quick :)
    Ludicrous gibs!

Yeah but damn, the HP Desktop sold for like $800 in 14 seconds. how can one possibly research that fast or just happen to have been waiting for that deal.

Knowing how people shop, I'm sure they just "assumed" it was a good deal because it is a Woot off and just bought it without even knowing what it was.

That had to be it-a frenzy of sorts. I think its brillant marketing the way woot does it.

Assuming your serious--To research if it in fact was a good deal or if the same or better deal could be had elsewhere.

Nah I wasn't serious. I figure people who shop Woot assume it's a good enough deal that if they don't actually like the product they could just turn around and eBay it for at least even money. It's the only way I can imagine someone buying an 800 dollar PC without a second thought, as you said.

I mean, Woot is really a website designed to make people jump at things they don't erally need, so very little about it surprises me.
If you will it, dude, it is no dream.
