RDO198's in Monitor 10s

Was hoping to place my order for the previously suggested caps and resistors...but F1Nut mentioned the 198's would need a different inductor....was wondering if they would need anything else different before I buy my rebuild kit:

4 -12uf's
2 -34uf's or 4-17uf's (is it ok to use 33uf Dayton FF's or MP's 1%?)
plus Mill resistors.

I will buy the revising inductors and 198's together later I just don't want to bump into needing different caps or something so I'm asking now.

Also I only saw one coil/inductor where is the second (possibly smaller one)? as per the schematics for 10A.

Thanks for any advice you can lend.
Cool stuff: Adcom GFA-555, GFP-710, Oppo BDP-83, Monitor 10's w/RDO198s, rebuilt and modded XO: Sonicap/Mundorf topside, Daytons Low.

Why not use the correct replacement tweeter, RD-0194? Do you think you'll hear a difference?

And, is it a 10A? (You mention the 10A schematics..). Those had Peerless, and the 194/198 won't fit.

I'm kinda working of his previous conversation with F1Nut. There must be a reason behind the suggestion. The 10A doesn't fall into the cookie cutter mold for tweeters. I've had Peerless, SL1000 and SL2000 10A in my travels.

Those were the guerrilla Polk days, when I would hop on any minty fresh deal in the BAWA area. I've been in more than one place and asked myself why am I in SE DC...or in Dupont Circle @ 10pm. Those days are long gone, worth the effort but not anymore.

Warlocks has made a bunch of local runs as well. We used to tag team sellers, unknown to either of us, and run away with the spoils.

    Ahhh...those were the days.

You guys have no idea how much I truly enjoy your dialogues......truly hilarious.

I was picking up on some good things written about the 198s vs.194s . It seems like they are similar but some tend to like the 198s a little better.

Are you both serious about the 194/198s not fitting?

Please tell me what type of Dayton is preffered.

They are definite 10A's I never actually saw Peerless tweets on them but I'll take your word on it.

If they are 10A, what is the tweeter installed now? SL1000? All you have to do is either look at it, post a picture or remove it and read the **** end of it.

Worst case scenario, you'll have to take a router to the cabinet.

If you have no idea what you're doing and you're not a complete weirdo, I can help you out. :D

The backplate from these are used:

Are you serious????? I don't want to cut up on the front.

Actually I can use the same backplate if I have to and retrofit the 194/198s to it.

So not many here lean more on the 198s?

You won't be "cutting up" the front, just trimming so the magnet will fit in the cabinet. It won't be visible with 194/198's installed.

Ah ok that's not a problem.

What about the dayton's? ff or mp 1%'s?

So the inductor and 198's are not a popular change?

1% for the tweeter circuit, regular values for the low pass(woofer).

No, it's not common in the monitor series. I have the inductors and caps needed for the conversion, but I haven't gotten around to ordering the 198's yet for my Monitor 7's.

That can go both ways since some of the baffles used only fit SL1000/Peerless. Do we even know what he's using?

    Am I missing somthing?

It isn't just the magnet...it's the frame.

Anything on the Dayton class to use for the lowend?
