Looking for some ideas. Just picked up a psw505 and noticed that at higher volumes and/or lower bass (30 or below) seems to be a fair amount of port noise...i was thinking of adding some baffling to the box itself. Another idea was to seal the box itself, but dont know if that will doom the subwoofer..looking for ideas...

If the ports were rear-firing, you would hear less flow turbulence.

Polk created the slot port to help reduce port noise. It's always going to exist when playing at loud levels. I wouldn't seal it up but should look into sealed subs. Also I don't think that sub will hit below 30 hz

Will sealing off the port of a sub that is designed to be ported damage the sub itself?

    No damage.

Another option is to use a $%^$ load of straws. You would fill the slot with straws until it's fairly tight. By breaking up the one big slot into a bunch of tiny slots, it will help with turbulent flow. It won't fix the problem, but it helps.
