Surrounds recommended for this 5.1 system:
I have a 12X16 media room and have purchased the following components for a 5.1 set up (primarily used for movies on a 50" Panasonic plasma tv)
-Pioneer Elite VSX 84
-Rti10's
-Csi3 center
-PSW10 sub
-Monster HDP 2400HD power center
-What surrounds would you add?
-Any advice on a blue ray player?
-For this small room. is the selected sub adequate? (it was a bargain so i went for it)
Thanks.

I would go RTi4 or RTi6 (or current line equivalent) or Monitor 30 or 40 (or current line equivalent). Normally, I would want a better sub, but the RTi10s will be supplying some bass.
Unless you are really wanting analog outs - I would just get a PS3 for a bluray player. Be sure to look at how you want to use your bluray player. While comparing players for my Dad, I saw surprised at the different features in playing jpeg files. PS3 was not an option for him since he didn't want to spend that much. -

I have a PS3 but would think older people would struggle with BT remote. I have the BT to IR converter which makes things easier for universal remotes but I know some younger adults that struggle with using the PS3 as a BR player.

I appreciate the suggestions for Rti's and Fxi's... what about LSiFX's? Would they work?
Also - as far as the sub....would it be a good idea for me to snag another bargain priced PSW10 and have a 2nd in the back of the room? -
No the LSIfx's would clash with your rti's 2 totally different sounding speakers. Stick with the series that you have.Marantz AV-7705 PrePro, Classé 5 channel 200wpc Amp, Oppo 103 BluRay, Rotel RCD-1072 CDP, Sony XBR-49X800E TV, Polk S60 Main Speakers, Polk ES30 Center Channel, Polk S15 Surround Speakers SVS SB12-NSD x2

Catch your breath before you buy another sub. Give your PSW10 a listen and calibrate your system. If you like it, keep it. You could certainly get a second PSW10, but dual subs can create issues with placement since they can cancel each other out.
The main knock on the PSW10 is that it does not dig as deep as other subs and it has a pretty small amp. These are not really shortcomings that a 2nd sub of the same model will overcome.
I use a PSW303 is a room bigger than yours. It is good enough for now. So try what you've got, plenty of time to buy something else later. These PSW10's were dirt cheap last year at this time, so this is not a "once in a lifetime opportunity" for that sub. -
I want the Fxi's but it's hard finding black. Plus I can get white FXi3's new for $200 (good deal). My other speakers are cherry, tv black.... media room black and dark red. Will having only the surrounds white look really bad? Can i paint them?
-
Agreed, if your walls are white, then it wont be an issue. Search ebay, the flea market, or polk direct and see what you can find. I'd definitely go for a pair of FXi3s in your case, the FXi5s will work too but they are rather huge in size.Shoot the jumper.....................BALLIN.............!!!!!

My ceiling and front wall will be black, side walls and back wall will be dark red. Best price on new white FXi3's is $199 on e-bay, new black FXi3's are $350 (Amazon). Is it worth the extra $150 to make it all match color wise?

If that is the color that you want, then yes it is worth it! Getting into HT the right way is NOT a cheap proposition.Marantz AV-7705 PrePro, Classé 5 channel 200wpc Amp, Oppo 103 BluRay, Rotel RCD-1072 CDP, Sony XBR-49X800E TV, Polk S60 Main Speakers, Polk ES30 Center Channel, Polk S15 Surround Speakers SVS SB12-NSD x2
