Monitor 7 Question

Ive read a lot positive things about "vintage" Polks but I dont know much about them.
As for as Monitor 7s as I understand it, there are the original 7, 7A, 7B, 7C and Series II is this correct? Any easy way to distinguish between these series to determine which ones Im looking at? Are they labeled accordingly or do I need to do a serial no search?
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Thanks for the response. I've been looking around for a good deal locally on some vintage polks to play around with. Stumbled across these for $40. I've read some good things about them on here. Unfortunately....I finally just heard back from the seller that they're sold.

Did you buy them?
I just talked to the guy selling them and he said there no longer for sale....
Where you from?
I'm in southern Indiana....

Sometimes there will be a label in the back that says the model #
7 & 7A's look basically the same.
7B's & C will have newer drivers
The original "Moniter Series Model 7" has an 8" passive radiator, the rest have 10" PRs.
At least some 7Bs have the Peerless silk dome tweeters. The cosmetics were a little better (cleaner) than the 7A. The big front-mount gasket on the midbass driver that persisted through the 7A series probably vanished at the 7B.
My 7As have two fuses (tweeter and system fuses), but I think that some 7As just have the tweeter fuse.
There were probably more or less subtle changes throughout the production runs of all these series, so retrospective analysis gets a little complicated!
They're all good, though. -
Not sure if these are in your price range but I found these. Looks to be about a 2 hour trip to get there.

Nope. Called this morning...then finally heard back from the seller 5 mins after my original post.
Indy...southside. These woulda been about a 5 min drive. For the money and convenience....I had to try. -
Well, there are these as well. These are very hard to find from what I have read on the Polk forums. http://indianapolis.craigslist.org/ele/947967028.html The "VS" stands for video shielded and if you can pick these up cheaper than the advertised price I would recommend replacing the tweeters with the RD0 194 available from Polk. Just tell them you are a club Polk member and you will get a discount.
Here are a couple of pics of the VS25 sitting next to the 5jrs for size comparisons.
Also, looked around a bit more and found these.

Also found the specs for the VS25 while looking around.
Closed system using a 6 1/2" low flux leakage bass midrange driver, a 6 1/2" subass radiator, a 7/8" low flux leakage soft dome tweeter, and isophase crossover in a 1.2 cubic foot cabinet. 22 3/8" High x 8 1/2" Wide x 11 3/8" Deep -

I don't know if you can replace those tweeters with the RDO. Those were designed to be direct replacements to the SL series and I believe wouldn't be an electrical or physical fit. -

Cool, thanks for the correction. I was reading past posts and I guess I misunderstood. I am still learning all the Polk stuff.:) -
