I was cleaning out my closets today and noticed a unopened box from
FED EX . Realizing about a year ago I signed for a package for one of my neighbors (apartment living) and he never came and got it. He's also moved from the apartments . I tried looking up his name with no results. The package was from over seas. I opened it up and theirs 20 apple ipods unopened.

Should I contact FED EX or ???????????????

Dude, lighten up. The OP said his neighbor never came and got it, I would think implying he let the neighbor know he got his package.

If it was my package I would have gotten it asap, waiting a whole year is unacceptable. I tried numerous times letting him know he had received a package without any response. As far as being honest I am very.

Sorry for busting your chops leroyjr1, it sounds like you did everything you could to let him know you had his package. Not sure what you should do now though. Since it sounds like the guy had plenty of opportunity to pick the package, maybe call FEDEX and they could at least check if the guy called asking about his package. Heck, they may just tell you it's yours now. At least then you can have a clear conscious for the Polk iPOD Christmas Karma! :D

If you let him know multiple times that you had the package and he never picked it up and it's been a year - they're yours as far as I'm concerned. Donating them would be a cool thing to do, especially this time of year. Unless you middle name is warehouse, you owe him nothing.

Yea, but still would like to see him get his stuff back. The guys front door is only 6 feet from mine. What kind of excuse could you have for not picking up a package unless he never knew he had them coming.

The job of the neighbor is to hold the package until the person comes and gets it. Maybe let the person know his package has arrived. Not hunt a person down to try to get him his goods. "As far as waiting a year", After a week or so I just put it in my front closet thinking he was on vacation or something and that he would come and get it. I forgot about it until I ran across it cleaning up.

I am a very honest person that's why the items are still sealed up and sitting here versus being on EBAY 6 months ago.

Of course, I am kidding. Sounds like you are trying to do the right thing. If you honestly try to find him and have no luck, c'est la vie. I wouldn't spend any money trying to find him and what you do with them after that is completely up to you.

Contact the U.S. Post Office. They have a forwarding address on record for at least a year. Even if it is expired, they will still have his address on record. They will have a record of where he moved to by his forwarding address.

Then, send it postage due. If he asks why, tell him it was for the inconvenience of having to store his crap for a year and he should feel lucky you didn't charge him storage and handling fees.

What john said sounds right, but I would just send him a letter saying you have them and if he wants them, to come pick em up. Keep an ipod for the letter, stamp, and storage :)

I like the idea of donating them. however if you do and since you signed for them, you'll be responsible (I don't know how this works legally).

I would probably call FedEx and see if an insurance claim was filed and if they took care of it. He may have filed a non-delivery or something and FedEx may have reimbursed him or the shipper already.

It is odd that something of that apparent value like a box of 20 iPods would have just been forgotten about completely by the neighbor or the sender.

What exactly does this mean? You left him a note on his door, or what? I'm just curious because it sounds like the guy did not know you had the package. Sounds like he might have moved almost immediately after you received the package. Maybe that's why he never got your notice?

Lee is definitely not one to be lacking on communication skills. I wouldn't for a second think that he didn't try his best. Something was probably counterfeit or illegal with that many units in one box and another party that's unwilling to pick it up.

Besides, why would he bring it up if he was in the wrong? Nobody [one would logically think] would want to bring something like this out into the public eye if they were trying to pull one over on their neighbor. Food for thought man.....

Dude, after 1 year, they are yours. Make sure they are not counterfeits or stolen (check with Apple?)

If neither, then give a few away to a charity auction, sell a bunch at super low prices on Ebay. Make a little money, pass a great deal onto others.

Oh, maybe give one away here as a Karma.
