lsi7 & lsic...Will they work at 8ohms 100W/per?

I wouldn't try to drive them if your AVR is not rated for 4 ohms. They will make sound, but lack in volume and clarity. My Main Gear

does your receiver have a impedence selector? The manual I'm looking at online, shows a 4 ohm & 8 ohm selector for the fronts anyway.I refuse to argue with idiots, because people can't tell the DIFFERENCE!

+10 on what Hockeyboy said. All that switch will do is limit what little the speakers are already getting.
If you have preamp outputs then get a separate amp of at least 200wpc to ensure that your LSI's will operate to their full potential.Marantz AV-7705 PrePro, Classé 5 channel 200wpc Amp, Oppo 103 BluRay, Rotel RCD-1072 CDP, Sony XBR-49X800E TV, Polk S60 Main Speakers, Polk ES30 Center Channel, Polk S15 Surround Speakers SVS SB12-NSD x2 -
The only problem i see is that i would like to add the lsic center speaker and i don't believe it will change to 4 ohms.
The str-de545 manual talks about the front channel only. it not very clear about how the 4-8ohm switch affects the center and rear channels. if 4 ohm is not available at the center and rear then should i continue that pursuit of the lsi series speakers? or should i just figure an inexpensive way to add a stand alone amp that will work along with my str-de545?
I really need some guidance. my goal is to make sound quality improvements without removing my current receiver from the system. I will invest in new equipment if this adventure takes me to dead end.
thanks for any help. -
Its my understanding that if the AVR has an impedance selector, it changes the way the entire internal amp functions (I think it's current limiters or something), so it will affect all channels. I would imagine they only mention the fronts, as standard configuration would assume all the speakers are of the same family and thus same impedance. (of course that's not a rule)
Apparently and as long as the amp/avr is 4 ohm stable, you'll be fine. the 100watts per channel rating--is that for 8 ohms? or 4 ohms? Of course when I say fine, I mena it will work, but it may not sound as good as an external amp might or a beefier AVR, but that really depends on the volumes you listen to.____________________

should i attempt the upgrade with lsi7 or keep and rebuild myRT15i's? If i get the lsi7's-do you think i will hear major improvements running them with mt str-de545?

Hi. I am looking at your manual now and it says that the front speakers (A or are 4/8 ohm. Rear and center are 8 ohm or higher only. If you add the Lsi center channel to this receiver it will probably go into protection mode rather quickly as you turn up the volume. This receiver will already be pushed to its limits when driving the LSi7. Also stated in your manual.... that if you are going to use both sets (A & of front speakers the speakers needed to be 8 ohm or higher. Just a suggestion from a former owner of the LSi7 speakers, get seperates. I had these speakers hooked up to many different receivers and the speakers always sounded like cheap speakers. Once I hooked these up to the correct amount of power the speakers came alive. Your Sony may drive these speakers for the fronts but you will never really know what they are capable of until you give them what they want, POWER. My suggestion to you if you have the money is to get a receiver (that is 4 ohm capable)that has preouts and add an external amp if you are going to get the LSi7 speakers. Other than that suggestion, it is better to get quality equipment one piece at a time than to rush out and make a hasty purchase.
For others that may respond here is a link to his manual.
