Old Pioneer receivers and Polk SDA's

Hopefully someone out there can help me and tell me why my Pioneer SX1050 and SX1250 when hooked up to the sda's at half volume the speaker protection on the receiver kicks in. I have tried both receivers and 2 different pairs of sda's. I have a Pair of SDA 2's and SDA CRS+. Both have the same result. I have verified the receivers and they are both common ground.
Any suggestions?
I have taken the receivers into the shop and they say they are fine.

Simple, the receivers are clipping at that volume level.
No offense to you sir, but my advice would be the sell them and get some real hifi gear.Political Correctness'.........defined

If by "half-volume" you mean the volume knob is at half point on its rotation, then F1Nut nailed it. Great sounding receivers in their day, and still not half-bad (although I'm a vintage Marantz fan!), but not enough guts in the amp section for that type of use.DKG999

REGARDS SNOWWell, I just pulled off the impossible by doing a double-blind comparison all by myself, purely by virtue of the fact that I completely and stupidly forgot what I did last. I guess that getting old does have its advantages after all -
What kind of gear would you reccomend? I had some carver 400's and they blew up 3 moths ago. I haven't got around to getting them fixed.
