CS1 vs CS2 Center channel

It bugs me to no end but the space to be occupied by my center channel speaker is too small to accomodate a CS-2 (which is the one I want), but a CS-1 will fit (just barely) My question is how much difference is there in the sound produced by these two speakers. If the CS-1 is significantly different than the CS-2 then I can rearrange my setup but it will not look nearly as good. But in all honesty it's all about the sound - looks are secondary. Any insight is appreciated.

I am in the same boat. My new TV stand only has 18" of width for a center channel. The CS1 will fit, and they are pretty inexpensive, but I do not know how well it will match to my SDA-2B's. Anybody have any suggestions?

I owned the CS-1 and bumped up to the CS-2 and I have to tell you it's a world of difference. Before I was having trouble getting the voices to a clarity where I could understand them with the other effects. BUT, I guess it all depends on what you are matching them to. When I had the CS-1 my front mains were Monitor 40's and the CS-1 worked well. After I upgraded to monitor 70's the CS-1 was a bit over matched. Again, you're going to get a great speaker because it's Polk but if you are looking to get the more impressive speaker I'd find a way to fit the CS-2 in there, it's a monster.

    TV: Samsung LN40A550
    Mains: Polk Monitor 70's
    Center: Polk CS2
    Surrounds: Polk OWM3's
    Receiver: Onkyo TX sr705
    BDP: Sony S350
    Subs: Velodyne VRP1200 and VRP1000

I also have the CS2 with my Monitor 70's and they play very nice together. What are you running as your mains Lancair? If you have anything like the Monitor 50's or lower I would suggest you run the CS1. You don't want your center channel to be too "powerful" for your mains. Oh, and welcome to Club Polk.

Thanks for your input. I have a feeling it's better to get the CS2's. That way when I upgrade to monitor 60 or 70's in the near future I wont be disappointed with the sound.......even if the "look" is not quite as I imagined. Thanks again

I am running a pair of 10 year old Infinity floor speakers. They are just OK, but I will be upgrading to Polk Monitor 70's or possibly the 60's. I think the CS2 will be a better match with the sound. Thanks for your input
