I have a set of rti-12 and currently have two independent amps powering these. I am selling the amps and going to buy a new two channel amp but will temporarily power the upper portion of the towers with my receiver. Is this a good idea or should I just put the jumper on and use bought top and bottom. They will be powered by a pioneer sc-05

Depends, does the amp have gain control? If not you could wind up with a very bright or very dull sounding speaker.

If it's just temporary I'd say put the jumpers back in.

+1 for the jumpers - with no gain control, that's most likely going to happen (too dull or bright).....although you may get lucky :)
