We already did. "Toyota's vehicle sales declined 33.9 percent, Honda's dipped 31.6 percent and Nissan's dropped 42.2 percent during that time period, Autodata reported."
Again, you can't use what's happening right now as the basis for making any decision or arguments - and that applies to ALL automakers, not just the Japanese companies. If nobody has the money, and the credit lending market is ****, nobody's gonna be able to buy any vehicles, regardless of how well built it is.

My point about quality is about what's been going on for the last 10 years. The big 3 need money because they're all out, at least that's how I understand it. Toyota and Honda don't need the money because they've been doing quite well for the past ten years, and have enough assets or whatever to ride this thing out.

My point is more in regards to why (again besides right now where things are suck for everyone) someone like Toyota has been doing better the last 10 years and is in a better position to roll with the punches so to speak...

If those people lose their jobs because the execs and union bosses were greedy, that sucks, but what will rise up in it's place will can be a better model. Look at the non union auto workers. They aren't in the same boat at all. All the bloated pensions and bonuses and fees and god knows what else. Times are a changing that is for sure

they own Jeep which came out of WW2 in which Chrysler also manufactured said Jeeps...

Many different companies made Jeeps, under license, to keep up with government demand. Ford manufactured the majority of the WWII jeeps (600,000) and Chrysler didn't actually own Jeep until they bought AMC in 1987.

......Unions need to make major concessions or the auto industry will end up like the steel industry....gone but not forgotten......learn from our mistakes. Same with CEO and company officers.....make pay commensurate with performance. The big 3 should be allowed to go into chapter 11...so it can trim the fat and come back leaner and meaner.

Honda workers in US get $18 an hour.....big 3 union workers get $40....who is gonna survive. Honda has no corporate jets......guess?

Give UNIONS a stake (shares) in the company.....so they share in the GOOD and BAD times. Gives them incentive to make a better product and provides for a stronger industry.

JMO, ...I'm all too familiar with the towns of Lowell & Lawrence, MA. You want to talk about SH!THOLES!

I have lived in Lowell for almost twenty years, and it has vastly improved, and the crime rate has been significantly reduced. A new arena for concerts and a minor league hockey team was built about eight years ago, a new baseball stadium that is home of the Lowell Spinners (class A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox) was also built about five years ago, and many new restaurants are opening in the downtown section. There is also an annual Folk Festival and winter celebration that generates revenue for the city.

In April of this year, it was voted as one the top 100 cities in the U.S. to raise family:

    This is hardly a "SH!THOLE".

the scope at with everyone looks at this is tow narrow. lets take 3 huge steps back and look at the fall out if the big 3 goes belly up.
1 if you think the housing/banking is bad now. when the big 3 goes down bam
2 a instannt jump of at least 10% on un employment i would guess closer to 15%
    3. best buy, walmart, costco, pennies and etc will be in big trubble with losing 10-30% of busness.
4 if you drive a american car instant decline in the value and no more warentee for it if it still has one.

and these four reasons are just the tip of the iceburg.
this could caues a global resson .
