Gotta love Polk but I ain't paying $95 for replacement tweeters for a $200 speakers. Can anyone point me to a spec sheet for the RT7 bookshelf speaker? Specifically, I'm looking at tweeter specs: power handling, crossover frequency, resistance etc etc.
Thanks all

From Polks own site, it's all I could find.
http://www.polkaudio.com/homeaudio/specs/rt7/
The owners manual for my RT7's doesn't give specific specs for just the tweeter. -
I very much appreciate it my friend, unfortunately this is not a spec sheet. That would have to originate from Polks engineering department. A spec sheet will contain any overall dimensions, ohms ratings specific to just the tweeter, voltage ratings, min/max frequency cut off points, resistance values, construction specifics and the like. This would give a guy the best mathematical advantage, short of hearing the thing, for finding as nearly identical a replacement tweeter as is possible if he couldn't use a new Polk tweeter. Polk doesn't offer this tweeter anymore....Link to my System Showcase...

Which is it? I really don't know.
The info you are requesting is considered proprietary.Political Correctness'.........defined

Some folk know what I'm asking. People making inquiries about the make-up of a $200 speaker don't normally use words proprietary when making their inquiries but I will if you like.
Polk no longer manufactures the LS6501 tweeter but suggests another tweeter as a potential replacement in the RT7. If that suggested replacement is similar to the LS 6501 in design and construction, then I would have to refuse to offer up the asking price of $95 dollars for a tweeter that would make its maker a handsome profit at $40. Being the OEM tweeter is no longer available I think it fair game to pursue an aftermarket tweeter of similar or greater quality at half Polk's asking price. That would especially hold true when the Polk option is for a tweeter that never graced the RT7 in the first place.

It's most likely a 4ohm driver. All the 6.5 woofers to date are.
If the XO is a series curcuit you need to find something that matches damn close. If parralel, you can tweak the XO a bit and get something to work.
Don't base your choice on my statement because the RT 55's I picked up have 4.1ohm woofs and a
7ohm tweeter.

Thank you very much. The schematic is available on this site and I've downloaded it. It looks like I'm going to have to bone up on my electronic math to figure out what the crossover point is and what kind of resistance the little driver has. If I can't do the math with what's available on the drawing I'll go straight for your 4 ohm loaded speaker. Here's a link to the drawings page: http://www.polkaudio.com/forums/showthread.php?t=38755
In the drawing there is a series inserted parallel gizmo that features a resistor and a cap then downstream in series there is another gizmo consisting of two caps wired in parallel. After that there is a coil of some kind bridged coil across the positive and negative; all this assuming I remember anything from a 30 year old electronics class. I have no idea how to sum these numbers up. I think I have a speaker building book around here someplace. I can't beleive the damned thing doesn't have the ohms rating stamped on it.
Thanks for civil answer....Link to my System Showcase...
