I'm looking to buy a new home receiver and have now come up with a major change in possible selections. I had it narrowed down to an pioneer sc-05 but now a sweet deal on a Marantz 8002 has come up. I have done my homework on the Marantz and the Pioneer but the Marantz sounds like it would have a higher end sound capabilites. Anyone have experience with the Marantz brand of receivers? Any help on making a final choice would be greatly appreciated.

if you have the chance to listen to both of them.. and play around with them as well. that may help you make your decision a bit easier.
I think you'd be good with either the Pioneer or Marantz.PolkFest 2012, who's going>?

What speakers are you planning on driving? Please. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Make sure to include who you are, and you are from Polk so I don't delete your email. Also I am now physically unable to work on any projects. If you need help let these guys know. There are many people who will help if you let them know where you are.

Well haven't found a place in town that has the Marantz the Pioneer I have heard and messed with also an Onkyo 906. Onkyo 906 is great as far as features and overall package but the Pioneer trumps it on the sound side and the presentation and I think the amp section on the Pioneer is also a lot stronger. -
Those big RTi's could use some help from an external amp. This is not hard to do with most newer receivers. Just make sure they have pre outs. I have been out of HT for a while, but I am a big fan of HK. With the RTi's being on the bright side the warm/neutral sound of the HK would work well. The best advice is let you ears be the judge. Keep in mind though most likely it will be brighter in the home than in the store.

Well I have a seperate amp on the Rti-12's but will upgrade to a emotiva amp soon because the one I have is a vintage amp good but a bit dated.
