Nice tune written by Ray Davies of the Kinks 34 years ago.

Of kings and days of old,
But there's no England now.
All the wars that were won and lost
Somehow don't seem to matter very much anymore."

I just posted at 5:35 over in "What are you listening to " thread a link to the authorized video ( I think ) with the words on the side of the video. It was the first time I've read the words to the song. Verb (DAVE) posted his love for this whole Album and then @joecoulson mentioned this song. I saw it on YouTube but only listened to some other songs and thought what a great Heavy Metal Band for sure!
I didn't know the words were that deep, emotional and haunting!
I think he sings it with perfect emotions! Most people just listen to music and watch movies. I EXPERIENCE them. -

I grew up in the 60s listening to Simon and Garfunckel's original version and always found the lyrics very profound. This cover, I think, perfectly captures what they were expressing.McIntosh MA252 Integrated Amp, LUMIN D2 Network Music Player, Yamaha Aventage RX-A840 receiver, Emotiva XPA Gen3 2 channel amp, Polk LSiM 703 speakers. I remember the song from back then too but I never got to much into reading the lyrics since most of my listening (99.99% ) was from a radio.
I thought it was a song about somebody loving silence.
Man was I wrong! Most people just listen to music and watch movies. I EXPERIENCE them. -

yep. I have always had a problem understanding some words from a lot of my favorite songs.
There's a link on the web that shows songs lyrics that people think they hear compared to what is actually said or sung. I'm guilty of a few of them for sure. Most people just listen to music and watch movies. I EXPERIENCE them. -

David Draiman is arguably one of the most underrated male vocalists of our time. This live version covering SOS is chilling.
Thanks for sharing Mark. I always liked their cover of this song but had never seen this performance.
