I have have LSi7 for karaoke purpose and now I am interested in setting up a 7.1 Movie Theather. What would it be a good setup for this purpose? What type of Center/Surround Sound speakers would I need? Please help

There are many configurations that can be used with the LSi7's. Dependent on room size, and even if you have room or need for a 7.1 system?

Could use the 7's as mains, surrounds, or rear back surrounds in 7.1. Could get all LSi7's and use an LSiC as your center, there are many different options, I'd definetly stick with all LSi series to stay matched. BTW, make sure you grab a healthy 4 ohm stable amp to properly power all of them.

    Hi Mike

Thanks for your prompt response. My family room is small that's why I have to go with the LSI7 for main. I am looking for something small but have good sound. LSIC and LSI FX are in my wishlist now. Is it really worth that much for a lsiC?

I dont know much about amps. The one I have is an Onkyo 606B which sounds fine with my LSI7. Is that amp capable of handling the speakers i listed above or should I go for something lower?

I would absolutely stick with the LSiC. For rears, either dipole/bipole or another LSi7 would work just fine.

Welcome to Club Polk. Having a full line up of all LSI's would put a strain on your receiver and probably put it into protect mode. What's more, you don't have preout inputs to attach a separate amplifier.

    Bluntly...Yes.

If you intend to stick with the LSI series, you will need at the very least an Onkyo 705, then you have to purchase a 5-7 channel 200wpc (minimum) amplifier to make sure that the speakers are operating to their full potential.

You can buy used from here, or from audiogon, which will save you major coin. But once it is all setup, you will have one slammin system!

arhh.. i should have waited for the 705 instead. :( The cost would be the same buying a 705 Plus the power conditioner. what is another solution without buying two devices? Thanks again

theunknown, in case you did not understand and your last post was not a momentary brain fade, the second device would be a power amp. not power conditioner. The other options would be a high power, high current AVR that is 4 ohm stable/capable, of which there are few. NAD, Rotel, maybe Outlaw come to mind. The other option would be a pre pro and an amp which essentially the same as an AVR with pre outs and an amp where you don't use the internal amp of the AVR and basically it becomes the pre pro.

    Guys,

Would an Onkyo TX SR805 work with the setup I mentioned above?
