Proper install location for rear 5.1 in ceilings?

Just got a pair of TC80i's for my rear 5.1 setup (not large enough room to warrant 7.1).

Was just curious as to the proper location for the install of these. My listening area (couch) is up against the back wall. Should I mount these slightly in front of listening area and direct them to the back wall about 45* off listening area?

Also as to the distance apart from each other, how far out (wide) from the fronts should they be? Fronts are RTi10's on each side of a 60" TV.

Thanks for any inputs or suggestions!

If the listening area backs up to the wall, I'd put the speakers to the sides of the listening area, a bit wider then the couch (and wider than the front speakers).

Thanks for the reply. That seems to be about where I will put them.
Just wodering if I should direct them toward the back wall or toward the listening position (or somewhere in between). At least I can move them around a little after installation so I can try and find the sweet spot.

The second part is difficult to answer- some listeners prefer a more direct sound (in which case, aim the speaker right towards you. Others prefer a more diffuse sound, in which case, aim the speaker away from the listening area.

But yes it'll be easy to adjust though- just rotate the speaker/aim the tweeter and see which one you like better.

Just an update. Got the TC80i's installed as my 5.1 surrounds. installed them just off to the sides of my listening area a few degrees behind the listening area but about 6 inches in front of the back wall (couch butts up to the wall).
They sound terrific! Now I really hope Santa comes back soon to deliver more watts for me!

    Thanks for your help!
