Which Velodyne?

I have decided to upgrade my sub to go with my LSI HT. My room is small and after researching subs, especially this site's favorites, I am strongly leaning toward a Velodyne SPL-800R or a SPL-1000R. A web authorized dealer has the 800R for $599.99 and the 1000 for $799.99. Is the 1000R worth the extra $200? My other sub thought is a SVS SB12-Plus for $749.
Thanks.

I have the 1000R in our 2-channel rig and am quite happy with it...have'nt heard an 800R to compare.

I have always thought to buy the best you afford...these are also good prices.

The 1000R for sure...without even blinking an eye. You'll be extremely pleased. When it comes to subs, Velo gets my vote hands down.

An SVS is about as good as it gets, have one of those also...but,if you listen to much music, the Velo gets my vote.

    Small,sealed,tight...sounds good

My findings exactly. The SVS I had (sold it as soon as I experienced the Velo's performance) was stellar at HT but came up short for 2 channel listening. The Velo is pulling double duty & "excells" in both areas.

Ordered spl1200r last week from audiovideologic on audiogon for $899. Scheduled to arrive wednesday. If you are interested in the larger sub, maybe overkill though for your room. My room is approx. 10x20x8.

Great deal on an even greater sub!!! You'll be "grinnin ear to ear" very shortly.
Now start thinking of adding another one!!! ;)

I also purchased an SPL1200R from audio videologic off of audiogon. However,
I purchased mine a few months back and paid $999. I am very happy with the sub. My room is 14 x 13 with 8 foot ceilings.

The SPL-1000R dropped another $100 in price today, so I placed my order. Thanks to everyone for their advice.
