And I can't believe how much media attention is being given to it.

I saw this news story on Reuters:
Beyonce would like to be known as "Sasha Fierce"

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Just like the "Seinfeld" episode where George wanted everyone to call him "T-Bone," Beyonce Knowles would like to be known by a bold new name.

The R&B singer has christened herself "Sasha Fierce" for her new double album, "I Am ... Sasha Fierce," due in U.S. stores on November 18, and has released a lengthy justification for the comical moniker.

"I have someone else that takes over when it's time for me to work and when I'm on stage, this alter ego that I've created that kind of protects me and who I really am," the former Destiny's Child frontwoman said in a statement.

"Sasha Fierce is the fun, more sensual, more aggressive, more outspoken side and more glamorous side that comes out when I'm working and when I'm on the stage."

Additionally, she has set up a cryptic MySpace page (http://www.myspace.com/sashafierce) that gives a "lucky person" the opportunity to receive a personal message and a gift bag valued at $500.

As George found out, nicknames usually do not work when they are self-bestowed. His colleagues thought he should be called Koko the monkey. In real life, rapper Eminem had better luck with his alter ego "Slim Shady," which he said came to him while he was on the toilet.

Beyonce released her previous solo album, "B'Day," to coincide with her 25th birthday in September 2006. It debuted at No. 1 on the U.S. pop chart and yielded the No. 1 single "Irreplaceable."

"I Am ... Sasha Fierce" will be distributed by Columbia Records.

And this was actually in Wikipedia:
Sasha Fierce

The album introduces Knowles' alter-ego Sasha Fierce. Knowles said that Sasha was "born" during the making of her 2003 hit single "Crazy in Love". However, in an interview with Entertainment Weekly magazine, Knowles noted the her alter-ego is "strictly for the stage". The magazine has described it as "the singer's sensual, aggressive alter ego".[7]

Knowles wears a "roboglove" in public to complement Sasha Fierce. It was Knowles' concept, and New York-based jeweler Lorraine Schwartz made the titanium glove. Its of several pieces, including a ring, a glove and a separate component that covers Knowles' upper arm. The glove first appeared in the video for "Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)". Knowles later wore it on the red carpet during the 2008 MTV Europe Music Awards, on her performance at the Saturday Night Live show, and in the cover for Gotham magazine.[8]

The video for "Single Ladies" is being talked about all over the radio and honestly, it's been a long time since I've seen something that stupid.

I guess it's doing what she wants it to do, generate hype. But she's turning in to a pretty good mix of Sean "Puffy" ":P. Diddy" "Diddy" Combs and Tyra Banks. It's kind of entertaining to watch the wheels come off of this one. I wonder when Jay-Z's melon is going to pop in to the picture?

This chick is hot a very popular world wide. If anyone can do it she can. You just named three of the biggest names in the industry. And all three Puff, JZ and her all go by more than one name. JZ has about four.

It's like when Garth Brooks put out an album as Chris Gaines... You just have to go, "Okay, really?" It's condescending and implies that their fans can't handle them putting out an album with a different sound without them coming up with some B.S. alter ego.
