pa1200.1 remote sub level adjustment

The manual says to increase the gain 25% and set the remote knob at 50% and go from there raising your volume on your head unit gradually to 75%, does this mean to set the gains at 75% on the amp (instructions state to start at 50% when adjusting in the paragraph before the remote knob instructions)
