I would definitely go with the Sony, if I were you. I have the KDS-40V2500, had it for two years (and counting), vivid close to real colors and no issues.
I am sorry, I have no opinion on the matter. I am sure you do. So, don't mind me, I just want to talk audio and pie.

I talked with one of my friends about the 2. He tells me for the price you are getting that samsung at, you cant beat it. He is more versed in the video arena then I am. But he says bestbuy carries them both so you should go down to your local one and just see which one floats your boat:D

Really good price and a really good LCD. I have the 40" 550 model in the kids rig, I love it, picture quality is astounding. Father has the 750 and it's amazing, don't think there is any picture difference between it and the 650 model.

    Thanks for the help, guy`s...

I was going to go down and compare the two like you suggested, but I have found that at most BB`s they have everything all jacked up to show the one they wish to sell the most of working the best !!

    I`m leaning toward the 650....and a Sony 350 Blu-Ray player...:D

So what did you end up with? I chose the Sony over the Samsung because of the reflective screen on it. I have only heard good things about both.

That samsung 650 for $1399.00 at fry's is a great deal. I got mine on sale for $1849. In the price range of $1399 there's nothing that can touch it.

    Go get'em

Went Saturday with my daughter to get a TV for her new house. It came down to the Sammy LN46A550 and Sony KDL-46v4100. The Sony was $100 more at the store. Neither has 120hz, but that was no biggie. She finally decided on the Sony's pic. The 2 were side-by-side with the same input. I do not if they were calibrated or changed at all from factory settings. Plus, she liked the looks of the cabinet style on the Sony slightly more than the Samsung. I haven't hooked it up yet to see if it has the "sparkle" effect though.

    Soon, my fellow Polkies....soon

But I did manage to get the sony 350 blu-Ray ordered..!!!

u know. I'm not expert by any means.... bit ive been into electronics for about 10 years, im a loser... i go to frys when im bored just to look at stuff... whatever... anyways. I have talked to reps from mitsubishi, sony, samsung, and toshiba... and all of them say that the best way to judge a tv (even since 3d digital comb filters came out) is the black level. If i TV can produce a REAL BLACK image, its a very good set. looking at 100s of HD TVs and a researching a ton.... ive came to the conclusion that Sony, is always leading the pack with black level. u can even look at a cartoon to to find out how the black level is. I am going to be purchasing my first HD LCD of my own pretty soon, and i will prob go with a sony or samsung (whatever is on closeout, the red tag, at frys). I would say this.... Look at both TVs, either will be incredible. You are def looking at the right ones. im not sure on this.... but since u have time. contact sony or go into a sony style store and ask when the new models are coming out.... go to frys about a month before and the prices will be too low to advertise... ull know when the frys add says "1299.00 before savings" reason they dnt list the actual price is that its bellow what they are able to advertise.

anything 35" + is recommended for at least 15 feet. 35" is the cut off at 10 feet. im 11 feet away and im going with at least a 37" but if i can find a deal on a 40" ill go with that. Since we are both looking to buy one.... let me know the exact size u want.... and ill do research for both of us... i can prob kill 2 birds with one stone. Also, on a tv, Extended plans are ALWAYS worth it..... bulbs are generally the only problem LCD TVs have... and they are about 400 to replace and need to be replaced every 2 - 4 years, depending on usage of corse... and u can prob find a service plan for longer than 2 - 4 years for less the the cost of a replacement bulb... so fidn out the price of the replacement bulb for the tv u decide to go with... and if the service plan is cheaper.... its def a good investment

My sets get alot of usage everyday !!

so i just did the product comparison on Sonystyle for 46" TVs... im gonna assume u arent going to be using the audio on the tv that often... or at least u will be able to invest the price diference and get wayyyyy better sound for the money between the one i choice as the best value... if that doenst make sense..... The link bellow is what i came up with as the best bang for your buck. It has the exact same picture quality and specifications as the BEST sony tv in that size... and its about 3000 dollars cheaper. u can put together an amazing home theater system for that.

    http://www.sonystyle.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?partNumber=KDL46W4100&catalogId=10551&storeId=10151&langId=-1

Thats the best value that i found by comparing the products. not a bad price for the sony site either... and their service plans are really cheap.... pretty good

Edit- Rather than correcting all my bad grammar, im just gonna say Sorry.
    Sorry

the more i read the more and more i convince myself to ONLY buy a sony TV. I hear so many good things about samsung... and 2 years ago sharp.... but I have a sony 27" tube in my room. my parents have a 34" widescreen HD Tube in their room, downstairs we have a 52" LCD Rear Projection Sony... and u know what..... i cant complain about any of them. The main reason people say dont get sony is because "you pay for the name"..... well yeah, u do.... but when it comes to a TV...(a laptop thats very true because most of the parts in a Sony laptop match Toshiba and HP parts)... but a TV isn't a laptop, I never see a BAD sony picture... or even a sony picture im not impressed with. i see plenty of samsung TVs that dont impress me. of course, their top of the line ones make me all warm inside. i think budget wise.... sony is better... if u had all the money in the world... then i would think again. but value, reading up the last 45 mins or so and seeing what ive seen... i think im going with sony unless i get a incredible deal on a samsung.

i worked for circuit city about a year and a half ago... and their prices were competitive... but i went in this friday at night.... and im sorry, but their prices were complete crap... Its black friday, end of the month, and their open box items are going for the same price as new items at bestbuy.... they are going out of business and cant afford to cut prices... 90% of their customers will come from people who hate bestbuy. as far as the end of the month stuff.... as a previous employee of circuit city... an open box item at the end of the month can be haggled down A LOT, simply because its the end of the month and they need to get rid of it, i got a 24" lcd PC monitor that retailed for 499.99 for 150 bucks at the end of the month because i was top sales person that weekend.... stay away from circuit right now..... just look at the prices.... they arent near a lot of places.

also, walmart has some pretty good prices on TVs 90% of the time.... they just wont ahve the crazy deals frys has when a new model comes out, nobody does... except maybe Pacific Sales, which isnt well known and i dont think they have many locations.

just compared those 2 on the site brett.... only differences, THE ONLY DIFFERENCES are support for a particular function on select sony camcorders.... and "deep color". o yeah and 800 dollars. i dont doubt they have diff processors... but the actual specs arent diff.
