My old receiver has been religated to the bedroom but it's still very nice equipment. I'd like to multi-room my house by controlling input to my old receiver with my new one. Does anybody know a good way to do this? 50ft digital optical cable maybe? I just need to share the audio signals between both machines.

Yeah. The new receiver has zone capabilities. I've never looked into dual zone stuff before because I knew I was going to use all channels in the first zone. Right now I've used all 7 channels in Zone one but thought if I could use an un-used pre out or optical out, I'd send a signal to whatever I was listening to to my bedroom.
I have an older Sony ES, a pair of RT7 and the PSW10 subwoofer Polk gave me for buying the new FXi surrounds. Shame not to put'm to work. I'd love to have audio flood my apartment without having to blast the neighbors out.

How long does home audio grade digital opticle cable get? I'd need 50 feet.
It would certainly be easy enough to bring the old unit into the living room and patch over a 6 foot opticle cable to check this out I suppose.
