Polk PSW505 subwoofer for $199 online

This didn't really fit into the for sale section. because it's not a classified.. it's from J&R music and computer.. but I thought for $199 the deal seemed pretty good for a 12" 300 watt subwoofer if anyone was looking for one or to give one as a holiday gift.

IMO It's a good sub for $199. I wouldn't pay retail for it. It's not going to knock any pictures off the wall.

Is this PSW505 about the best inexpensive Polk sub?
I have a very small H/T room (~300 sqft.) and looking to get a cheap sub in the near future. -

Is it musical? I care for music (classical, pop rock, opera, jazz, other vocal) a lot more than HT. Will be used with LSi9's.

JandR had the 505 on sale for $199 during black friday weekend. i think it went back to "regular" sale price of $249 after that

I'm thinking of selling my 505 and getting a better sub. This is my first HT setup and the sub sounds pretty good to me, but I curious to find out what a better sub has to offer. Do you think the DSW 500 is a significant improvement?

Do you think this would be a good upgrade to my Velodyne CHT10 sub? My sub sounds awesome for movies, but the music is just ok. Is this Polk a better sub for music?

I think you can get an SVS for around 300-500$ for their base 10" model.

In this crappy economy.... try offering them $199.00, they might just accept it !!! Sure won't cost you anything to ask.
