YPAO and LFE Channel on subs

I have asked this in another forum but did not get a clear answer. Do I need to run YPAO for every sub that I am auditing ? Does YPAO equalize this channel and subwoofers ?

I got like 50/50 here. some guys says YES run it. others say it will not make much difference if any.

    Hope you won't mind my suggesting that your question is not entirely clear.
    (At least not to me, at 4 a.m.:)) You have a Yamaha AVR and wish to try out 2 or more subs, and wonder if you must run the Yam calibration routine for each?

    If so, then the usual answer here would be (I'm guessing) yes, run the calibration routine then tweak the result to suit your taste.

    But a little more data might be useful i.e. might elicit a response from someone who knows more about this stuff: what receiver, what subs, what speakers, music or HT.

    Yes. thats pretty much what I am asking. I want to know what exactly YPAO on HTR-6090 does to LFE channel. Some say nothing at all, others say it equalizes (applies to all buit-in calibration systems) only up to 63hz and therefore makes no difference to subwoofers.

    The reason why I am asking this is because my friends with Onkyo TX-SR875 said that after running Audyssey MultEQ XT his sub sounds MUCH MUCH better which I find hard to believe unless his setting were completely screwed up to begin with.

    I can't answer your question on whether the calibration affects the LFE frequencies or not, but lets assume for a moment that they don't- a subwoofer's bass and the Main speaker's bass can interfere with each other, in some cases completely nulling or cancelling each other out at certain frequencies. Running the calibration might compensate or correct that issue and result in vastly improved result even if the calibration doesn't affect the LFE's channel itself.
    Of course some of that can also be corrected by proper room placement and phase and XO settings as well.
