As much as I love the 585, and 565's they are prone to leaking caps on the input boards. They are great amps, but because Elna had a bad run of caps it should just be assumed that the amp will need to be repaired. I have done some Adcom's over the last few years. It cost roughly $150 for one 565, or $250 for the 585. This brings them back to as good or better than new.

    $550 + $150/$250 = $700 - $800

Buy the Emotiva onsale for $699. It's a better product. The sound is incredible. It's under warranty. Emo customer service is sick.

    I replaced a 585 with an XPA-2 and I thought I'd miss it...but I do not.

Thanks everyone. I didn't want to pass on the Adcom if it was better than a XPA-2. I am getting a XPA-5 first then saving for a XPA-2.

I have seen 2 GFA-585's on ebay recently. One went for $300 with a DC offset problem, and the other was $400. Just assume if they have not been worked on that they need to be. I have worked on a pair of 565's that were "repaired", but not done right. A lot of techs out there don't know how to do these properly.
