Driver Rotation?

This may be a dumb question but here it goes anyway...
Does it make sense to rotate the drivers (ie. 45 deg or 90 deg) from time to time? I was thinking that all my drivers have been mounted the same direction for close to 20 years. For example, over time would the stamped steel baskets tend to deform with the weight of the magnet pulling the same direction? There is also the weight of the voice coils / cones that are constantly pulling on the spider springs and surrounds.
I have never heard of this being an issue but there are a lot of things that I have not heard of yet.

This is just an educated guess with absolutely no facts to back it up but I wouldn't think so.~ In search of accurate reproduction of music. Real sound is my reference and while perfection may not be attainable? If I chase it, I might just catch excellence. ~

In some cases the suspension can sag, causing the voice coil to rub, etc... This usually is a problem for larger drivers though."He who fights with monsters should look to it that he himself does not become a monster. And when you gaze long into an abyss the abyss also gazes into you." Friedrich Nietzsche

Agreed, nope. You're efforts are best spent elsewhere. I'm sure some lunatic will write a Club Polk term paper on it eventually but I'd rather go to sleep.CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

Have you ever felt the weight of a spider/coil? They weight next to NOTHING....I can't imagine it would make a hill of beans worth of difference.TNRabbit

This is well documented in the Tannoy community and I've experienced it myself. But it's probably the last thing a Polkie needs to worry about."He who fights with monsters should look to it that he himself does not become a monster. Just the engineer in me. OK, I'll stop worrying now. I might just flip them around while I have them out for the mods though.Stan

SKROL, the same idea occurred to me a while ago, and I think you are right about the long-term effects of gravity, at any rate,I don't see what it could hurt to flip em ! You gonna do the Mortite seal thing ? Geoff

Already did it. The cabinets do seem to be more air tight. I have not gotten to really try them out sonically as I finished them up late last night and family was sleeping.Stan

Nope, not going to happen with those drivers.Political Correctness'.........defined

I flipped 'em a few years ago.
Didn't notice any difference. Whoa, maybe its time to flip 'em back!
