CD Player Technology - Myth or Reality?

On paper atleast it looks like the EMO designers did some nice engineering for the money.A discrete analog stage at that price is almost unheard of.
O.K. GV, but the Emo uses op amps and caps. Some designers attempt to design "high end" gear so that they don't use either op amps or caps because they claim these parts degrade or alter the signal too much. What's your opinion on this?HT/2-channel Rig: Sony 50 LCD TV; Toshiba HD-A2 DVD player; Emotiva LMC-1 pre/pro; Rogue Audio M-120 monoblocks (modded); Placette RVC; Emotiva LPA-1 amp; Bada HD-22 tube CDP (modded); VMPS Tower II SE (fronts); DIY Clearwave Dynamic 4CC (center); Wharfedale Opus Tri-Surrounds (rear); and VMPS 215 sub

A discrete op amp is made up of approx 6-8 separate transistors and several resistors and a few caps.IC opamps can contain dozens of transistors so essentially a less pure signal path.
As for coupling caps,if a circuit has low enough DC offset to allow direct coupling then thats a good thing. The less components the signal has to go through the better. However their are some excellent sounding products that use caps at their outputs. IMO if a hi quality film type is used it shouldn't degrade SQ much if at all.I added some coupling caps (WIMA poly propylenes) to a project of mine and could not detect a difference.:)Testing

Thanks, GV, for taking the time to explain this stuff in layman's terms. It's very helpful.
Many of you already know that I'm a firm believer in cap upgrades. My cap awakening occurred when I switched out the Solens with Sonicaps in my CDP. This change made a night & day difference. One very noticeable and immediate difference was greatly improved dynamics. In addition, the sound had better clarity and tone. I am still shocked at the difference it made, and this was two years ago! Because of this experience, I habitually calculate the additional cost of upgrading caps in every piece of gear I consider purchasing. I do the same thing with tube gear -- I automatcially consider the cost of replacing the stock tubes. In fact, I switched out the tubes and caps in my tube amps and they sound a lot better than when I first got them.HT/2-channel Rig: Sony 50 LCD TV; Toshiba HD-A2 DVD player; Emotiva LMC-1 pre/pro; Rogue Audio M-120 monoblocks (modded); Placette RVC; Emotiva LPA-1 amp; Bada HD-22 tube CDP (modded); VMPS Tower II SE (fronts); DIY Clearwave Dynamic 4CC (center); Wharfedale Opus Tri-Surrounds (rear); and VMPS 215 sub

I TRIED AT MANY CD PLAYERS ,NEW AND OLD ,ALL FROM TOP END COMPANIES ,SONY,AIWA,TOSHIBA,
AND WHEN IT COMES TO LECTURE CD'S, AT SOME FREQUENCYS, i.E. SOME VOICES TONE,TREBLE ETC COMBNATION] ,AS EACH PERSON HAS A DIFFRENT VOICE SIGNATURE SO TO SAY ,WHEN PLAY THE CD RECORDING OF THEM' IT JUST BEGIN MAKING TROUBLE', like AFTER A WHYLE INDICATING IT HAS A HARD TIME REPLICATE CONTINUING THOSE WAVELENGH'S,' IT SHOUTS NOISES /IT INTERUPS AND BEGIN again/ UNTIL IT STOPS PLAYBACK ALLTOGETHER ,

CAN ONE DIAGNOSE WHICH PART OF THE TECHNOLOGY IS WHAAT FAILS ,AND IF THERE IS ANYTHING LEFT That could be BE DONE ?
OR/ AND IS THERE A SYSTEM other THEN CD PLAYER TECH 'THAT WOULD BE ABLE TO READ THRU THE WHOLE CD AND CONVERT IT INTO A DIFFRENT sound FORM WHICH THEN BE ABLE TO PLAYBACK AT A DIFFRENT SYSTEM TECHNIOLOGY ??? -

can you be more detail ,? express yourself better ?
describe what your intensions are ? explain what lead you to post this ? -
On a recent visit to my local audio shop I saw the owner replacing Tubes in a CD player and he was testing it out it was a Shangling CD-1 if I remember correctly using a McCormack LD-2 and DNA 250 on a pr of Sinclair speakers that cost $1000 and the sound that came out of this thing was AMAZING I did not know a CD player could sound this good..
Now I have not heard a great deal of CD players lately so I might just be out of the loop on them but I was floored by this thing.ATC SCM40's,VTL TL 2.5 Preamp,PSB Stratus Goldi's,McCormack DNA 500,McCormack MAP-1 Preamp,Pro-Ject Xtension 10 TT,Ortofon Cadenza Red/Nordost RedDawn LS Speaker cables, Bryston BDP-2, Bryston BDA-2,PS Audio AC-3 power cables
