    There is no BoB movie.
I am sorry, I have no opinion on the matter. I am sure you do. So, don't mind me, I just want to talk audio and pie.

No, Das Boot miniseries. Sorry, OT, but seems like you guys know where to get foreign releases. Can't seem to find it in the US, only the movie, but I know it is out there. Maybe not in Blu but DVD would be ok as well.

That's what I am thinking of (to get it from DDD - I got their promo email), but they don't have in stock. My past experience with them hasn't been too positive, as far as getting it reasonably within 3-4 weeks (and that was when the title was in-stock). Granted, the price is right, and I can wait. Did you order it when it was still in-stock, Bill?

Yes, it was back-ordered when I placed my order. They will honor the price and ship as soon as it is restocked, even if the sale has ended. I'm not in a hurry to get it, so I was going for the low price.

I doubt you will see this in Bluray, but the DVD is available at Amazon.

This is the entire mini-series with the cutback scenes removed, which makes it more seamless and gets it down to 282 minutes.

Thanks! I think it still remains THE best WWII movie/series ever made. We need more like it and Band of Brothers, movies tend to be too short for the subject.

BTW, mine shipped today. I think I ordered last Thursday. Don't be afraid of the Backorder.

mine got shipped today, I thought that's a nice surprise, ordered it on the 18th (as soon as I responded to you, Bill ^). Surprising to see the note on their webpage that it is still out-of-stock (checked it a few minutes ago). Is it possible that they keep the status as OOS to keep away people from ordering with the SUPERSALE coupon? :)

I bought the BluRay version last night at the BB sale (plus a rewards coupon). The PQ looks excellent to me using my Sony S550. I can see where some of the video is in a softer grainier format, but it sure looks realistic.

Did the same and played it on the same player. I agree the PQ looks great. I think this is maybe the best war chronology ever done. My dad was in the 101st. We got to watch it together when it first came out. I had never seen my father tear up quite like he did while we were watching it. He made a point of us watching it together. I will always remember this miniseries for a variety of reasons.

Couldn't agree more, the sound quality is bone chilling. There are times where I get goosebumps!

Got mine on Friday. Sound quality is definitely better than even the DTS version of the SD version.

On a separate note, something similar is brewing for release next year. Get your HBO subscription ready boys!

the BD prices on BOB is really good... less expensive than the SD version it seems at some stores. this is a no brainer for when i get a Blu player. I also think the series is incredible, i've only seen it twice.. but really enjoyed it both time.. and i'm not that much into historic war drama's, but this one is so well done.

I picked this up tonight. I can't wait to watch it again. It's been a few years since I last saw it. Should be good again the second, or third time around.

DTS Master Audio, should kick some @ss ;)

Well, DB, now you've done it!! :)

I watched this series once a year since 2002 to the point that my son remember the story line of each episode.

Crosspoint and Bastogne are my favorites.

I got the Panny BD55 player today. hooked it up... and started watching BOB. Wow, is I can say about DTS Master audio. It rocks! Surrounds come alive like never before. The clarity is amazing. Panning from left to right and from front to back is incredible, and i'm watching it in 5.1 :)

This is finally what home theater surround sound is suppose to sound like. :D

I'm looking forward to a whole bunch more movie watching in Blu Ray.

Just bought Band of Brothers on BluRay last night at Blockbuster for .... $69.

.... I should have checked Polk Audio first, but we had to have it. NOW !
We were at Barnes & Noble and they had it for $99, so it could have been worse.

Worth whatever it costs, though. Watched Episode 1 last night, and the sound is truly awesome.

This is, as others have mentioned, a must-buy. Get the kids out shoveling driveways, sell the dog, fake a car accident, whatever it takes .... get it.

It only gets better the more you get into it.. episode one I thought was the least exciting one.. check out episodes 2 - 10 ;):p

$37.49 is an amazing price.. I paid $44.95 at Costco two weeks ago.. and I thought I got a killer deal.

We've watched BOB at least a dozen times on standard def, and it never gets old.

    On BluRay ? Whew !

If your kids won't get out and shovel driveways to get some money up for your purchase, and the dog runs off before you can sell him, than dip into your grandparents' bank accounts or whatever. Best mini-series ever.

But what's the verdict on the Blu Ray release though? I've heard the Blu transfer is not that great. It's on the 'Silver' list over on the AVSForum Blu rankings page.

For those of you who don't own it yet and have a Blu Ray player, there is no decision here - go buy it! For those like myself who already own it, I wonder if it's better enough to justify the Blu Ray purchase.

Anyone here have any thoughts on that?

I wasn't that impressed with the picture quality of the BD release.. but the audio blow's away the standard def release without a doubt. so for me it was worth buying.
